Adelabu Distances Self from APC Party Office Protest, Condemns Violence and Reaffirms Commitment to Peaceful Democratic Process

The attention of Chief Adebayo Adelabu, leading All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial aspirant in Oyo State, has been drawn to the false, malicious, and unfounded rumours currently being circulated in certain quarters alleging that he sponsored or orchestrated the protest and unfortunate destruction that occurred today at the APC State Secretariat.

We wish to categorically state, without any ambiguity, that Chief Adebayo Adelabu has absolutely no connection whatsoever with the protest, disturbances, or any form of violence that took place at the party office.

At the time of the incident, Chief Adelabu was not even in Oyo State, as he is presently in Abuja attending to important strategic engagements entirely unrelated to the happenings at the party secretariat. Any attempt to link him with the disruption is not only dishonest but a deliberate act of political mischief aimed at tarnishing his hard-earned reputation as a disciplined democrat, seasoned professional, and peace-loving statesman.

Chief Adelabu has consistently maintained, both publicly and privately, that the strength of the APC lies in its unity, internal democracy, and strict adherence to due process. As a firm believer in transparent, free, and fair democratic principles, he strongly supports lawful and credible electoral processes as provided for under the Electoral Act and the constitution of our great party.

While every party member and aspirant has the constitutional right to express legitimate opinions regarding the mode of primaries—whether by consensus or direct primary—Chief Adelabu firmly believes such positions must always be pursued through dialogue, consultation, and lawful engagement, not violence, intimidation, destruction, or disorder.

For the avoidance of doubt, Chief Adelabu is a respected technocrat and accomplished leader whose political philosophy is built on civility, decency, and issue-based engagement. He will never descend to sponsoring chaos, thuggery, or any low-level acts in an attempt to advance democratic ideals or personal ambition.

We therefore urge party members, supporters, and the general public to disregard these baseless allegations, as they are clearly the handiwork of desperate individuals seeking to exploit a tense situation for selfish political advantage.

Chief Adelabu remains focused on his vision for a stronger, more united APC and a better future for Oyo State. He continues to call on all stakeholders to exercise restraint, embrace peace, and allow the party’s leadership to manage all internal issues through established democratic channels.

At this critical moment, unity, maturity, and respect for due process must prevail over chaos and unfounded accusations.

A leading chairmanship aspirant in Ibarapa East Local Government, Hon.
