ARRESTED: Two Suspects Nabbed Over Alleged ₦30 Million Okada Theft in Ibadan

The Oyo State Police Command has arrested two suspects allegedly involved in a series of motorcycle thefts in Ibadan, with the duo reportedly making over ₦30 million from the criminal operation.

According to reports, the suspects allegedly targeted commercial motorcycle operators, popularly known as Okada riders, and used a pestle to knock out their victims before stealing their motorcycles.

The suspects are now in police custody as investigations continue into the alleged offences and their activities. Authorities are expected to determine the full extent of the operation and recover other stolen motorcycles.

School Security Guard Jailed for Sexually Abusing 10-Year-Old Pupil in Abia

A Family Court sitting at the Magistrate Court in Aba, Abia State, has sentenced a 30-year-old school security guard, Chidiebere Kalu, to one year in prison after convicting him of sexually abusing a 10-year-old female pupil at Radiant Glory Academy, Umuichichi, Aba.

The judgment, delivered on August 5, 2026, followed a case filed after the child's family reported the alleged abuse, which reportedly occurred within the school premises.

The court found Kalu guilty on two counts: indecent assault and instilling fear in a minor.

He was sentenced to one year imprisonment without the option of a fine on the first count and one year imprisonment with the option of a ₦200,000 fine on the second count. The court ordered both sentences to run concurrently.

Following the judgment, the Vivacious Development Initiative (VIDI), in partnership with the Child Protection Network (CPN), Abia State Chapter, welcomed the conviction, describing it as a significant step forward in the fight to protect children and ensure justice for survivors of abuse.
