THE ICON, SARKIN PAWAN GBOKO.
At exactly 11: 20AM on Friday 24th December 2021, i put a call to HRH. Alhaji Bala Mamman Jagaba who is the current Sarkin Hausawan Gboko (Chief of the Hausa community in Gboko Local Government Area) to confirm the shocking news i had just seen on WhatsApp status, yes! Five minutes earlier i had seen a friend update a status announcing the passing away of our father and grandfather, Alhaji Musa Ali. And unfortunately to my chagrin, the information was correct, truly he has transcend to a greater state, to meet his(our) maker. Innalillahi Wa'ina ilaihi Raji'un!
Soon, it was all over social media, family and friends, neighbors and acquaintances and all those know knew him paying tribute to the late icon, Oh yes icon! for someone to live such an accomplished life, it takes the grace of God, his love and mercy on that individual.
Alhaji Musa Ali has lived for almost a century, he outlived all of his contemporaries in the community, at the time of his death he was the oldest surviving patriarch of the Hausa community in Gboko. Indeed our people held him in esteem love and reverence.
He was a great man, he stood by the truth and never compromised. He was here when some of the most consequential decisions of our lives as a community were reached. He committed his time and resources to the betterment of his community and services to Islam. Before his death he was the Sarkin Pawan Gboko (Head of all the butchers in Gboko Local Government Area), a Kingmaker in the Hausa community traditional council Gboko and also the Ubangarin Gboko although by proxy and not in person.
His acceptance by all and sundry can be seen in the multitude number of people sending condolences to the family and to the community in general. Most prominently the delegation sent by the Benue State Governor to sympathize with the bereaved family and all of us in the community. the late Sarkin Pawa assisted many within his reachable capacity without any descrimination on religion or ethnicity.
My condolences to the entire Maisuga family, to the Sarkin Hausawa and his council of chiefs and to the entire sons and daughters of Gboko Hausa community, to the Butchers Association of Nigeria Gboko branch, and Gboko Local Government Area at large. Surely, Baba will be missed!
He is survived by three wives and fifteen children and many grandchildren. Verily, to Allah is the final return!
