Peace Restored to Ojobo as Council Chairman Takes Direct Charge

Burutu____________ Calm has returned to Ojobo community following the intervention of the Delta State Government and the Burutu Local Government Council.
The Executive Chairman of Burutu Local Government Area, Hon. Dr. Julius Takeme (JP), who was directed by the state government to take direct charge of the community, visited Ojobo on Monday, June 8, 2026, accompanied by members of the Ojobo Security Forum.
Upon arrival, the council chairman convened a meeting where he formally communicated the state government's directive to residents. He inspected houses destroyed during the recent crisis and paid a condolence visit to the family of the young man who lost his life during the unrest.
The council chairman, who spent the night in the community, assured residents that he would be visiting frequently as part of his direct oversight of affairs in Ojobo. Ward chairmen across the community were mandated to handle issues within their respective wards and report directly to him.
Both the council chairman and the chairman of the Ojobo Security Forum, Major Funtolumo, issued a stern warning that anyone caught instigating further trouble would face severe consequences.
Before departing for official engagements in Asaba on Tuesday, June 10, 2026, the council chairman met with representatives of both factions and directed that residents who had fled the community for fear of attack should return home, stressing that any reference to factions had now been banned. He also visited the community radio house to address residents on the need to embrace the restored peace.
