✒️ Ink & Machine: The Human Writer vs. AI Generated Prose
Can artificial intelligence ever feel the fire behind the writer’s flame?
Yesterday, a whale shook the ocean 🌊, and the waves roared with anger. One of the closest veins to my heart accused my thoughtful pen that all the sleepless nights it spent crafting thoughts into words, gathering information from source to source, surfing from page to page, were nothing but the product of a machine, an algorithm born/popular barely ten years ago!!.
Firstly, let me make this clear: a goat should never accuse a lion of being carnivorous. The goat eats easily at home; the lion, however, may endure days in the jungle without a meal and when it finds flesh, it counts it an achievement. Likewise, if people do not see the struggle and energy behind your work, they think you are like them and dismiss your burnt ink.
Before proving anything, I must first thank Allah (Subhaanahu WA ta'la) for showing us His Majesty through technology. No doubt, artificial intelligence has served humanity, especially Gen Z & Generation Alpha. Yet, is there anything in life with pros but without cons - except Islam? Never. Even medicine that cures carries side effects.
Let me affirm a fact: writing, especially poetry, is the art of expressing feelings and emotions. And feelings belong only to the heart that owns them ❤️. Imagine a soul enchanted by the beauty of a natural flower 🌸. Can AI express that love with the exact intensity? Never. At best, it underplays your emotions; at worst, it exaggerates them.
Another example: imagine a man newly married for only one year, and his beloved wife passes away 💔. Can AI write a tribute that captures his true grief? Never!
All of this shows the greatness of Allah (Subhaanahu WA ta'la) no matter how technology evolves, it can never equal His creation. Allāhu Akbar! Something strikes me now: “Who even created AI itself? Is it not man -- the creation of Allah?” Then how can anyone with reason believe the creation is smarter than its Creator?
NEVER!!!
But a critic may still argue: “Nothing in this generation exists that AI cannot do better, even with perfection.” To him I reply: you are mistaken. I am not denying AI’s role, but to declare that “AI has replaced humans” is false. A real writer is not one who randomly strings topics together, but one who sharpens his pencil ✏️, empties his ink, and pours his soul into words.
Don’t misquote me: AI has its benefits, even in writing. But let me give you an example : a lazy student, even if given the exam answers (expo), still fails because he lacks understanding. Likewise, a person without thought or emotion cannot express true feelings, no matter how powerful AI becomes.
If you are not a thinker…
If you are not one who pours his emotions into ink…
If you are not one who knows the depth of what you say…
Then no AI can ever replace your thoughtful pen ✍️.
I could write volumes on this subject, but as the wise say: benefit lies not in length but in clarity.
So I ask Allah (Subhaanahu WA ta'la) to make this beneficial to me as the writer, and to you as the reader, and to purify all our intentions.
