Bonny–Bodo Road: Hope Comes Alive as Final Inspection Date is Set
The Honourable Minister of Works, Engr. David Umahi, has announced that he will lead a final joint inspection of the Bonny–Bodo Road on Monday, December 8, 2025.
The minister made this known when the Chairman of Bonny Local Government Council, Hon. Abinye Blessing Pepple, paid him a courtesy visit in Abuja, where he disclosed that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is prepared to grant temporary opening of the road to public use after the inspection is concluded.
According to the minister, the inspection will be carried out in collaboration with the Bonny Local Government Chairman and the project contractor, Julius Berger Nigeria Plc, after which the road will be temporarily open to commuters.
In a statement published on the page of the Bonny Local Government, Hon. Pepple expressed that the people of Bonny have been full of expectations since the announcement on November 30 that the road would soon be accessible to the public.
He told the minister that his visit became necessary to seek clarity, noting that earlier anticipation had begun to fade, and the people needed reassurance.
The Chairman thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for prioritizing the project, describing the road as a long-awaited aspiration of the Bonny people. He recalled that in 2024, President Tinubu approved an additional ₦280 billion to ensure the completion of the project to the gratitude of the Bonny community.
