When a man discovers treasure in a field, he will willingly sell all he owns just to secure the land and preserve that treasure.
That is the measure of its worth.

Jesus likened this in Matthew 13:44:
“The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field. When a man found it, he hid it again, and in his joy went and sold all he had and bought that field.”
That treasure is Christ Himself.

Jesus urges us in Revelation 3:18:
“Buy from Me gold refined in the fire…”
He is the true wealth—the divine treasure that outshines all worldly gain.

To “sell everything” is to let go of the world and embrace Christ fully (Philippians 3:7–8):
“But whatever were gains to me I now consider loss for the sake of Christ… I consider them garbage, that I may gain Christ.”

When you find a treasure you truly value, you guard and preserve it at all cost.
So it is with Jesus.

He is our treasure—worth far more than silver or gold (1 Peter 1:18–19).
If you have Jesus, you have everything.
