The chalk dust settles on an empty floor,
Where eager feet will tread no more.
The books lie open, pages torn,
Leaving a shattered land to mourn.
They took the future at night,
Shrouding the innocent from the light,
While those in power close their eyes,
Deaf to the weeping mother's cries.
How long shall sorrow bend our back?
How long before the shadows crack?
The tears have dried, the grief has turned
To embers where a fire burned.
No more petitions, no more sighs,
It's time for sleeping giants to rise.
From every village, town, and street,
Let the drum of revolution beat.
We will not rest, we will not fade,
Until the broken debts are paid,
Until the stolen ones return,
And every cage of terror burns.
