Just picture this the venue is decorated to perfection. The DJ is playing back-to-back hits, the food is hot, and the host is looking like a million bucks. 🎉🔥
Then... someone who wasn't invited tries to push their way in, a crowd blocks the entrance, and the host spends half the night playing referee instead of enjoying their own party. Sounds exhausting, right? 😅

If you were hosting a private party, who is the FIRST person getting stopped at the gate?
1️⃣ The friend who brings 5 extra uninvited guests
2️⃣ The relative who tries to control the food section
3️⃣ The ex who "just happened to be in the area"

From my inbox
My father’s hands were never soft. They were dark, rough, and cracked at the knuckles from years of carrying cement bags on construction sites.
When I was in secondary school, I used to feel ashamed whenever he came to pick up my report card. Other parents wore fine clothes, while my father came straight from work in dusty trousers. One day, during a PTA meeting, I moved away from him so my classmates wouldn't see us together. He noticed, but he didn't say a word. He just quietly wiped his hands on his trousers, held my results, and handed them to the teacher with a smile.
Years later, on the day I graduated from university, I took my degree certificate and placed it directly into those rough hands. I looked at the dark marks and scars on his palms and realized those weren't just cracks—they were the price he paid so my hands could hold a pen instead of a shovel. I broke down and cried, asking for his forgiveness for the day I was ashamed of him. He wrapped his arms around me and whispered, "My child, every crack on my hand was built so your future could be smooth."
Moral: Never be ashamed of the hands that laboured to feed you and build your future.

😂 “I’m 35, Living With My Parents, and Still Trying to Figure Life Out” — But God Is Not Finished With Me ❤️

Sometimes I sit quietly in my mother’s house in the village and ask myself...

“ifeoma, how did we reach here?” 😂

Not because I hate my life.

No.

But because when I was younger, I had a different picture in my head.

I thought by this age, I would have my own beautiful apartment.

Fine car parked outside.

Stable business.

Money entering my account without me begging it to come. 😂

Maybe even husband and children disturbing the whole house.

Instead...

I am here.

In my parents' house.

Still hustling.

Still trying different things.

Still calculating how to make ₦10,000 become ₦30,000.

Sometimes I wake up early, sweep the compound, help Mama in the kitchen, answer family questions, check my phone for business opportunities...

Then I sit down and ask myself,

“So what exactly am I doing with my life?” 😭😂

And before depression can finish downloading...

Mama will shout from the kitchen:

“ifeoma! Come and help me bring the firewood!”

I will just laugh.

“Mama, I'm trying to build my future.”

She'll reply:

“Future first help me bring this bucket.” 😂😂

Chai!

Village life will humble you without warning.

One minute you're thinking about your destiny.

Next minute you're peeling yam.

🤣🤣

And because I'm still single, the questions don't even help.

An aunty can visit and look around the compound.

She'll see me.

Look at my face.

Look at my hands.

Then ask:

“Nne, you are still here?”

I will smile.

“Yes ma.”

Then comes the dangerous question...

“What are you waiting for?” 😭😂

Sometimes I want to say:

“I'm waiting for money, Auntie. Do you have some?”

But I remember I'm a child of God, so I just smile. 😂

The truth is, I'm trying.

I'm trying to make money.

I'm trying to find myself.

I'm trying to discover what I'm actually good at.

I'm trying businesses that sometimes work and sometimes don't.

I'm learning.

I'm failing.

I'm starting again.

I'm watching other people my age buy houses, get married, travel, build businesses...

And sometimes, I'll be honest...

I compare myself.

I'll ask,

“Why is everybody moving forward except me?”

Then I remember...

Onye kwe, Chi ya ekwe.

If I don't give up, God hasn't finished with me.

Maybe my journey is simply different.

Maybe this season of living with my parents isn't my final destination.

Maybe this village I'm sitting in today is only the background of the story I'll tell tomorrow.

So yes...

I'm in my mid-30s.

Yes, I'm still living with my parents.

Yes, I'm still hustling.

Yes, there are days my account balance looks like it's personally angry with me. 😂

But I'm not ashamed.

Because I know I'm still becoming.

And if you are also a woman in your 30s who feels like life has passed you by...

Please breathe.

Ị gaghị anọ ebe a ruo mgbe ebighị ebi.

You won't remain here forever.

Your present situation is not your identity.

Your delay is not your destiny.

And your parents' house is not the address of your future. ❤️

One day, I'll sit in my own house and remember the days I used to sit in Mama's compound wondering when my own story would start.

And I'll laugh.

Because I'll realize...

The story had already started. I just didn't know it. ❤️

👇🏽 Now let's talk!

Be honest with me:

Are you in your 30s and still trying to find your feet financially?

Have you ever felt embarrassed because you're not yet where you thought you'd be at this age?

Or are you currently living with your parents while building yourself?

Tell me your story in the comments. No judgment here. ❤️

And if you're a woman quietly struggling to rebuild her life, share this post with her.

Let her know she's not alone.
Umu nwanyị ibem, anyị ka nọ n'ọgbọ ọgụ! 😂❤️
