*Elders Must Be Blameless, Self-Controlled And Sound In Doctrine*
*Tit. 1:5-9*
Titus 1:5-9
[5]For this cause left I thee in Crete, that thou shouldest set in order the things that are wanting, and ordain elders in every city, as I had appointed thee:
[6]If any be blameless, the husband of one wife, having faithful children not accused of riot or unruly.
[7]For a bishop must be blameless, as the steward of God; not self-willed, not soon angry, not given to wine, no striker, not given to filthy lucre;
[8]But a lover of hospitality, a lover of good men, sober, just, holy, temperate;
[9]Holding fast the faithful word as he hath been taught, that he may be able by sound doctrine both to exhort and to convince the gainsayers.
Leadership in the Church is not a position for mere managers but a sacred trust for godly shepherds. Paul emphasises personal integrity over charisma or competence. A leader must be blameless, not only in the pulpit but in family, finances, and social conduct. He must be faithful, self-controlled, hospitable, not quick-tempered or greedy, and firm in sound doctrine. The character of the leader sets the tone for the flock.
*POINT OF EMPHASIS:* Leaders must be blameless, yet both firm and tender in conflict resolution.
*PRAYER POINT:* Holy Spirit, anoint and equip our leaders to reflect Christ in life and doctrine.
*Reading The Bible Through in a Year:* Morning: 2Pet. 3; Evening: Isa. 46-48.
