One of the greatest lessons on wisdom ever written is found at Proverbs 26:4,5
It says...
"Do not answer the stupid one according to his foolishness, So that you do not put yourself on his level.
Answer the stupid one according to his foolishness, So that he does not think he is wise."
At first glance, these two verses seem to contradict each other.
But look closer.
They are not teaching contradiction.
They are teaching discernment.
Life does not reward those who react to everything.
Not every argument deserves your attention.
Not every insult deserves your response.
Not every battle deserves your presence.
Sometimes, the wisest thing you can do is walk away.
Because the moment you allow another person's foolishness to dictate your behavior, you have already lost something far more valuable than the argument—you have lost your peace.
Yet silence is not always wisdom.
There are moments when truth must be spoken.
Moments when deception must be challenged.
Moments when silence becomes permission for foolishness to grow.
Wisdom is knowing the difference.
Knowing when your words will plant a seed...
and knowing when they will simply feed the fire.
The strongest minds are not those that respond to everything.
They are those that have mastered the discipline of knowing when to speak, how to speak, and when to remain silent.
Sometimes wisdom has a voice.
Sometimes wisdom walks away.
The secret is learning which one the moment requires.
