"He's handsome."

"Very handsome."

"I like his confidence."

Vanessa barely glanced at him before returning to her notes.

Another student.

Nothing more.

Dr. Daniel smiled mysteriously.

"Before we begin today's lesson on the Muscles of the Upper Limb, let's have a quick revision."

He wrote on the board:

Clinical Question

A patient falls on an outstretched hand and is unable to abduct the shoulder comfortably.

Which bones and joints should be examined first, and why?

The room became quiet.

Vanessa lifted her pen, ready to answer.

At the back of the classroom...

Ethan looked thoughtfully at the board.

Their eyes met for only a brief second.

Neither smiled.

Neither looked away first.

Something invisible had just begun.

And neither of them realized that this simple classroom question would become the first page of a story neither believed they would ever live.

🩺💕 ANATOMY STUDENTS DON'T FALL IN LOVE... OR DO THEY?

Chapter 5: A New Name

The following week...

The Gross Anatomy lecture hall buzzed louder than usual.

Rumours spread from one row to another.

"Did you hear?"

"A transfer student joined the department."

"They say he's brilliant."

"I heard he studied abroad before coming here."

Vanessa ignored the gossip.

She was highlighting anatomical landmarks in her atlas.

Lily leaned closer.

"Maybe he'll finally challenge you."

Vanessa didn't even look up.

"I haven't met anyone in this department who can."

Isabella chuckled.

"Confidence looks good on you."

Vanessa replied calmly,

"It's not confidence if it's true."

A few minutes later, Dr. Daniel entered.

"Good morning, class."

"Good morning, sir!"

"I'd like everyone to welcome a new student to the Department of Human Anatomy."

The room fell silent.

The classroom door opened.

A tall young man stepped inside.

He wore the same oxblood trousers and crisp white shirt as every other anatomy student, yet there was something effortlessly composed about him.

His dark skin glowed under the morning light.

His neatly trimmed hair and calm expression gave him a quiet confidence.

He carried only a backpack and an anatomy atlas tucked beneath his arm.

There was no arrogance in his walk.

No attempt to impress anyone.

He simply looked around the room with observant eyes.

"Please introduce yourself," Dr. Daniel said.

The young man faced the class.

"My name is Ethan Okoye."

"My father is an architect, and my mother is a physiotherapist.

I recently transferred here because of my family's relocation."

His voice was calm.

Confident.

Respectful.

"You are all my classmates now, and I look forward to learning with you."

No dramatic speech.

No showing off.

Just sincerity.

Dr. Daniel gestured toward an empty seat at the back.

"You may sit there."

Ethan nodded.

As he walked down the aisle, several students whispered.

"He's handsome."

Finally, he displayed the bones of the hand.

"The carpal bones allow flexibility of the wrist."

"The metacarpals form the framework of the palm."

"The phalanges make up the fingers and enable fine movements such as writing, typing, suturing, and holding delicate instruments."

He paused.

"Can anyone tell the class why fractures of the clavicle are relatively common?"

Several students lowered their eyes.

Vanessa slowly raised her hand.

"Because the clavicle is slender, positioned horizontally, and often receives direct force during falls on an outstretched hand or the shoulder."

"Excellent."

Dr. Daniel smiled.

"The anatomy queens continue to impress."

The class applauded.

For the first time, Vanessa looked genuinely pleased, not because she had won, but because she had earned praise through knowledge.

As the lecture ended, Dr. Daniel closed his notes.

"Next week, we'll begin the Muscles of the Upper Limb. Read ahead."

The students dispersed, excited and slightly intimidated by what lay ahead.

🩺💕 ANATOMY STUDENTS DON'T FALL IN LOVE... OR DO THEY?

Chapter 4: The Challenge Continues

Monday morning arrived with its usual rush.

Students hurried across campus carrying heavy anatomy atlases, notebooks, and coffee cups.

Some revised while walking, others gathered outside the Gross Anatomy laboratory, nervously discussing the previous lecture.

Inside the lecture hall, Dr. Daniel Okafor was already arranging his slides.

As soon as the clock struck 8:00 a.m., he looked up.

"Good morning, class."

"Good morning, sir!"

"I hope everyone revised last week's topic."

A chorus of "Yes, sir!" echoed through the hall.

Vanessa, Lily, and Isabella entered just before the lecture officially began. This time, they were punctual.

Dr. Daniel noticed.

"That's better."

Vanessa smiled slightly.

"We learn from our mistakes, sir."

The lecturer nodded approvingly.

"Excellent.

Today, we'll conclude the Bones of the Upper Limb by discussing their functions and a few important clinical correlations."

He projected a diagram of the upper limb onto the screen.

"Let's begin with the clavicle."

He pointed at the image.

"The clavicle acts as a strut between the trunk and the upper limb.

It keeps the shoulder away from the thorax, allowing free movement.

It also protects important blood vessels and nerves passing from the neck into the upper limb."

Pens raced across notebooks.

"The scapula provides attachment for numerous muscles and forms the socket, the glenoid cavity for the shoulder joint."

He continued.

"The humerus is the longest bone of the arm. It serves as the main bone for muscle attachment and forms both the shoulder and elbow joints."

"The radius is located on the thumb side of the forearm.

It plays a major role in pronation and supination, the movements that allow the palm to turn downward and upward."

"The ulna, found on the little finger side, forms the main hinge of the elbow with the humerus and provides stability to the forearm."

Unlike the regular hostels filled with noisy students, this place resembled a luxury apartment complex.

Security guards stood at the entrance.

Beautiful flowers lined the walkway.

A sparkling swimming pool reflected the evening lights.

Every apartment was tastefully furnished.

Vanessa lived in the largest penthouse.

The living room was breathtaking.

Cream-colored leather sofas.

Floor-to-ceiling glass windows.

Elegant chandeliers.

Expensive artwork decorated the walls.

A massive bookshelf held dozens of medical textbooks arranged perfectly.

Her bedroom overlooked the city skyline.

Everything about the apartment screamed luxury.

Lily and Isabella occupied separate apartments within the same residence.

Their homes were equally elegant, though none matched Vanessa's.

After changing into comfortable clothes, the three friends gathered in Vanessa's apartment.

Lily dropped onto the sofa.

"I'm exhausted."

Vanessa poured herself a glass of juice before opening her Gross Anatomy textbook.

"No matter how intelligent you think you are, anatomy will humble you if you stop reading."

The others nodded.

For the next two hours, they revised every structure discussed in class.

By the time they finished, the sun had disappeared completely.

Lily stretched.

"So..."

"What are we doing tonight?"

Vanessa's eyes sparkled.

"Club."

Isabella laughed.

"I knew you'd say that."

Vanessa stood and walked toward the mirror.

"I study hard."

"I enjoy myself harder."

Within minutes, expensive dresses replaced their university uniforms.

The transformation was astonishing.

The brilliant anatomy students had become the stars of the night.

🩺💕 ANATOMY STUDENTS DON'T FALL IN LOVE... OR DO THEY..?

Chapter 2: The Queen Everyone Wanted to Be

The afternoon sun bathed the Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences in a warm golden glow as students poured out of the Gross Anatomy lecture hall.

Everywhere, conversations revolved around one thing.

"The three girls that answered every question."

"I thought the lecturer would embarrass them."

"They embarrassed the lecturer instead."

Laughter echoed across the corridor.

Vanessa walked ahead with Lily and Isabella beside her, each carrying neatly arranged anatomy textbooks.

Students instinctively stepped aside to create a path for them.

Some admired them.

Others envied them.

A few simply shook their heads.

"There goes the Anatomy Queens."

Vanessa smiled faintly.

She had heard that nickname before.

She didn't hate it.

In fact...

She loved it.

Lily laughed.

"Vanessa, did you see Dr. Daniel's face? I thought he would faint."

The three girls burst into laughter.

"He expected us to fail," Isabella said calmly.

"But he forgot who we are."

Vanessa adjusted the strap of her designer handbag.

"Never walk into a battle you haven't already won."

The words sounded more like a rule than advice.

As they walked across campus, several junior students greeted them respectfully.

"Good afternoon, Vanessa."

"Good afternoon, Lily."

"Good afternoon, Isabella."

Vanessa simply nodded.

To her, respect was expected, not earned.

Across the faculty building, a group of girls watched them from a distance.

"I wish I had Vanessa's confidence."

"I wish I had her money."

"I wish I were that beautiful."

Another girl sighed.

"Forget beauty... I wish I had her brain."

None of them noticed Vanessa overhearing their conversation.

She smiled to herself.

Exactly the reaction she enjoyed.

Later that evening...

A sleek black SUV stopped in front of an exclusive private students' residence just a few minutes away from campus.

"The radius and ulna articulate with each other at the proximal and distal radioulnar joints."

Several students wrote every word.

Others simply watched in admiration.

Gross Anatomy was proving to be far more fascinating than they had imagined.

Dr. Daniel glanced at the clock.

"Oh..."

"We've run out of time."

He smiled.

"In our next class, we shall discuss the functions and important anatomical features of the bones of the upper limb, including their clinical significance."

He closed his notebook.

"Class dismissed."

As students began leaving the hall, Vanessa stood confidently.

Little did she know...

Someone sitting quietly at the back of the class had been watching her from the very beginning.

And this silent stranger would soon change everything.

Dr. Daniel pointed at Vanessa.

"You first."

"Name the bones that make up the upper limb."

Without opening a notebook, Vanessa answered confidently.

"The upper limb consists of the clavicle, scapula, humerus, radius, ulna, eight carpal bones, five metacarpals, and fourteen phalanges."

The lecturer blinked.

"Excellent."

He turned to Lily.

"Name the eight carpal bones."

Lily smiled.

"Scaphoid, lunate, triquetrum, pisiform, trapezium, trapezoid, capitate, and hamate."

The class gasped softly.

Dr. Daniel faced Isabella.

"State the articulations of the humerus."

Without hesitation, Isabella replied,

"Proximally, the head of the humerus articulates with the glenoid cavity of the scapula to form the glenohumeral joint. Distally, the trochlea articulates with the trochlear notch of the ulna, while the capitulum articulates with the head of the radius."

The lecturer slowly removed his glasses.

For a brief moment...

He was speechless.

Instead of embarrassing them...

They had impressed him.

A smile escaped his lips.

"Very impressive."

"You may take your seats."

Vanessa looked around proudly before sitting beside Lily and Isabella.

The lecture continued.

Dr. Daniel drew a simple diagram of the upper limb on the board.

"The bones of the upper limb are divided into four major groups."

He wrote:

1. Pectoral Girdle

- Clavicle
- Scapula

2. Arm

- Humerus

3. Forearm

- Radius
- Ulna

4. Hand

- Eight Carpal Bones
- Five Metacarpals
- Fourteen Phalanges

He continued.

"The clavicle articulates medially with the manubrium of the sternum at the sternoclavicular joint and laterally with the acromion process of the scapula at the acromioclavicular joint."

"The scapula articulates with the head of the humerus through its glenoid cavity."

"The humerus articulates proximally with the scapula and distally with both the radius and ulna."

"The radius and ulna articulate with each other at the proximal and distal radioulnar joints."
