Congratulations, Thomas! 🎉🎉🎉

We are so proud to celebrate Thomas as he embarks on his next exciting chapter! Ahead of his upcoming journey, he shared his reflections on volunteering with FriendenArt across two inspiring projects at Garden International School: Project Arts 360 and Be The Change.
We are grateful for the impact he has made with FriendenArt.

Here is Thomas’s story in his own words:

Hi, I'm Thomas! I chose FriendenArt because of my love for art and for community- and honestly, because it felt like coming full circle. I'd worked with FriendenArts the year before through Project Arts 360, so joining Be The Change felt like picking up where I left off.

Project Arts 360 was where it all started for me: running art jamming sessions with youth with disabilities and seeing how creativity could connect people across all kinds of barriers. Be The Change took that even further. Our motto was change perspectives, change narratives, change who gets to be seen- and I'm so proud of our team for making it a reality. What stays with me most isn't the amount we raised, but the atmosphere on Auction Night: student volunteers stepping up as auctioneers, my principal excitedly wielding a gavel, and a whole community celebrating the artists for their talent rather than their circumstances.

More than project management or event planning (though I did learn how a live auction works!), what I really took away was compassion and a broader understanding of the world I want to design for.

Next up: I'll be reading Architecture at the University of Cambridge this autumn- and spending the summer painting in the meantime!

Kaye-leigh has shown us how she can over come her discomfort of not drawing cats (she loves cats too much) with such tenacity.
Not only cats, she chosed a colour that she least like and sat with her discomfort.

In the end, she had so much fun painting french fries, one of her favorite food😂😂😂
