π Building the Future of West Coast Swing in Asia
The MY Swing Community Leader Conference was created so leaders across the region could share what works, learn from one another and build stronger, more sustainable communities together.
One of the clearest takeaways from our opening panel with Robert Royston, Chuck Brown, Zee and Dalena was that Asia needs to create and showcase more routines.
Routines give communities something meaningful to build together. They develop choreography, teamwork, performance experience and a stronger artistic identity.
Our challenge to community leaders across Asia: consider creating a Classic routine, team routine or another choreographed project over the coming year.
Hopefully, we will have the opportunity to celebrate and showcase some of these home-grown routines at MY Swing next year. β€οΈ
The CLC also explored many of the practical questions community leaders face: how to grow and retain beginners, develop teachers, shape better dance-floor experiences, build sustainable events, support parents, scale classes and strengthen Asiaβs judging and scoring capabilities.
Some sessions were presentations, while others were candid panel discussions built around real experiences and different regional perspectives. Not every session had slides, but the livestream recordings capture many of the conversations and lessons shared throughout the day.
Here are some of the materials for community leaders and organising teams to revisit:

We hope these resources save community teams time, spark useful conversations and help turn good ideas into action.
The recordings preserve the content, but the greatest value of the CLC came from being in the roomβasking difficult questions, exchanging experiences and building relationships with leaders navigating similar challenges across Asia.
We hope to welcome even more community leaders into that conversation next year. β€οΈ
