In conjunction with the closure of the club, Taylor's College Indian Cultural Society have donated all the remaining club fund to Agathians Shelter on the 7th of July, 2018. Agathians Shelter is a legally registered welfare home that roofs 39 boys who are either orphans, abandoned and/or from single parent or broken families.
Taking safety of the residents of the home as the fundamental priority, the welfare home has launched Safety First Campaign for the first time. In conjunction with the campaign, the home is currently raising fund to purchase and install Panic Alarm System. TCICS has successfully contributed about 60% of the total sum required. Apart from that, we also made contribution in terms of groceries for that week.
This event would not have succeeded without support and help from many people. Firstly, we would like to thank our dedicated and supportive teacher advisor, Mr. Balachandran Palaniandy for all the guidance and advices. Thanks also to everyone who have helped directly or indirectly to ensure all our effort pays off.
We are very contented to wrap up the club with a community service. Hopefully, the love for the community is instilled and spread in every individual of the new generation as we hold the responsibility of serving for the society.

Love has to be put into action and that action is service.”
Synonymous with this quote by Mother Theresa, Taylor's College Indian Cultural Society wrapped up the year with a School Visit to SJK(T) Ladang Emerald on the 13th of November, 2017. An initiative to channel the proceeds of this year’s Indian Cultural Night 2017, the School Visit allowed us to put a smile on the faces of each of the 35 needy students when we presented them with school bags filled with stationeries and an entire set of exercise books for the upcoming school year. Additionally, we also provided necessary items for the school's usage such as a first aid kit, fire blankets, triangular bandages, computer accessories and etc.
This event would not have succeeded without the support and cooperation of many parties. Firstly, our gratitude goes to Mr. Bala, the club’s teacher advisor for his consistent guidance. Next, big thanks to all the committee members and volunteers for their strong commitment and the staffs of TCSJ’s Student Development Centre (SDC) for their unwavering support and guidance throughout this effort as well as for providing the additional donatable items for the event. Last but not least, we take this opportunity to thank SJK (T) Ladang Emerald for their overwhelming support during the planning stages of the event and as well as their heart-warming hospitality during the event.

On the 5th of August, we organised a special appreciation dinner for the Alumni's of the club from previous years. It was a yet another successful event hosted by the Taylor's College Indian Cultural Society. We would like to take this opportunity to thank the committee members and volunteers who aided with the event. We also would like to give our heartfelt gratitude to Mr. Balachandran,the Club Advisor, Mr. Reuben Cheong and all members of the Student Development Centre (SDC) for constantly guiding us and making the event possible.We also would like to thank Gem's Restaurant for letting us use the space for the event as well as providing delicious and appetizing food for the event. Finally, a big shout out to all the Alumni's that attended the event as well as showing their continuous support for the club.THANK YOU!! :D

INDIAN CULTURAL NIGHT 2017. It was yet another successful event hosted by the Taylors College Indian Cultural Society. We would like to take this opportunity to thank all committee members and volunteers who have helped tirelessly throughout the pre-event period for making this event a huge success. Our heartfelt gratitude to Mr. Balachandran, the Club Advisor, and Student Development Centre (SDC) for constantly guiding us and not forgetting the Management of Taylor's College Subang Jaya for supporting us. Our humble gratitude to all staff from Program Office for greatly supporting our pre event - fund-raising activity which were Mehendi Drawing, selling kek batik,Indian sweets ( Soan papdi, Barfi and coconut candy) and sticker tattoos. A special shout out to all sponsors and donors for sponsoring our event. You were literally the wind beneath our wings who added thrust to our dreams. A special thanks to Persatuan Kesenian Silambam Adithada, Laasya Arts Academy, Taylors College Subang Jaya Music Club and Taylors College Subang Jaya Dacnce Club for your amazing performances which kept the whole night so lit.We would also like to thank the Golden Food Caterer Sdn. BLESSED PONGGAL EVERYONE :D

Here is a little history behind the celebration of Ponggal :)

The origins of the Thai Pongal festival may date to more than 5000 years ago. Epigraphic evidence suggests the celebration of the Puthiyeedu during the Medieval Chola empire days. Puthiyeedu is believed to represent the first harvest of the year. Tamil people refer to Pongal as "Tamizhar Thirunaal," the festival of Tamizhs.

The Pongal day, is celebrated by boiling fresh milk early in the morning and allowing it to boil over the vessel - a tradition that is the literal translation for Pongal. People also prepare savories and sweets, visit each other's homes, and exchange greeting.

The harvest festival of Pongal symbolizes the veneration of the first fruit. The crop is harvested only after a certain time of the year, and cutting the crop before that time is strictly prohibited. Even though Pongal was originally a festival for the farming community, today it is celebrated by all. In south India, all three days of Pongal are considered important. However, those south Indians who have settled in the north usually celebrate only the second day. Coinciding with Makara Sankranti and Lohri of the north, it is also called Pongal Sankranti.
