Publication Anniversary!
Veins of Influence Colonial Sri Lanka (Ceylon) in Early Photographs and Collections by Shalini Amerasinghe Ganendra
Discover over 450 rare, unpublished photographs that unveil the untold visual history of colonial Sri Lanka.
In this groundbreaking monograph, Datin Shalini Amerasinghe Ganendra traces the “veins of influence” that shaped how Ceylon was seen, collected, and remembered, from British royals and curators to local family archives. The result is a visual journey that reframes global photography and humanizes the colonial lens.
Featuring never before published collections from the Royal Collection Trust, Pitt Rivers Museum, Cambridge University Library, Royal Botanic Gardens Kew, Rothschild Archives, and more, alongside works by Julia Margaret Cameron, this book is both a feast for the eyes and a powerful contribution to cultural history.
For scholars, collectors, and anyone captivated by photography, empire, or Sri Lanka’s layered past, Veins of Influence is a must-read.
