The Climb, Dec 2022.

To be honest with you, when I reached the summit, I couldn’t stop crying - and they weren’t tears of happiness or pride.

I actually felt defeated.

Mad at myself for not being fast enough, or strong enough. And of course was in a lot of pain.

It was a weird sensation to have climbed to great heights (literally the greatest height in Malaysia) and STILL feel dissatisfied with myself.

I just wanted to sit at the peak and spend my time existing in this new environment but we had to keep going, to get back down in time.

Maybe I was also, in a way, mourning the end of a beautiful journey before it was even over.

After much contemplation since then, I see how my overwhelming reaction mirrored my reality and attitude towards life and achieving my goals.

My perspective has changed since then… Or is changing.

I’ll let you decipher what you take from my experience.

I learned a lot of things climbing mt k but one of my biggest take aways was how much gratitude and love I have for this guy right here

No matter how much his energetic self wanted to run up and down the mountain, he stuck by my slow, cry baby butt the entire time.

There were moments towards the peak that I honestly thought I wasn’t going to make it & I begged him to go on without me (I know, dramatic, but for real!!)

No matter how many times I cried, tumbled and snapped at him to leave me alone (lmao) he was patient and persisted, made sure I didn’t fall off a cliff and even squeezed some laughs out of me, when all I wanted to do was lie down and be sorry for myself 😅

You might think I look cool~ but I still call my mum whenever I need help with literally anything like taking me to the doctors or the income tax department.

She might not always have the answers but she’ll always be there for her kids and loved ones. Even if it’s just to be good company.
