但如果一个人从来都不是为了成为“坏人”而活呢？

在《新梁祝·蝴蝶恋》里，我们想让马文才不只是一个推动悲剧发生的角色。他也有自己的身份、立场、期待和选择。

有时候，我们站在自己的角度看一个故事，很容易分出谁对、谁错。
但现实里，每个人其实都在自己的位置上，做着当下认为最合理的决定。

今年，我们也重新丰富了马文才的角色层次。
也许当你真正走进他的世界，会发现这个故事并没有想象中那么简单。

He is often remembered as the man standing between Shanbo and Yingtai.

But what if Ma Wencai was never meant to be simply the “villain” of the story?

In The Butterfly Lovers, we explore more of the identity, expectations and choices behind his character, allowing him to exist as more than just the person who changes the course of a love story.

It is easy to decide who is right or wrong when we are watching from the outside. But in reality, everyone makes choices from where they stand.

This year, Ma Wencai’s story is given greater depth.
Perhaps when you see the world from his side, the story may feel very different.

在《新梁祝·蝴蝶恋》里，祝英台面对的不只是爱情，而是现实、身份、家庭与命运一步一步把她推向另一个方向。

最痛的，也许不是失去一个人。
而是明明知道自己想要什么，却没有办法为自己选择。

这也是为什么《梁祝》过了这么多年，依然离我们很近。
因为现实里的我们，也可能曾经站在“想要”和“应该”之间。

Red is meant to be the colour of celebration.
But sometimes, it can also carry the weight of a choice you were never truly allowed to make.

In The Butterfly Lovers, Yingtai is not only caught between love and loss, but also between expectations, family, identity and reality.

Perhaps the hardest part is not losing someone —
but knowing what your heart wants, and still not being able to choose it.

That is why this story still feels so close to us, even after all these years.

为什么《新梁祝·蝴蝶恋》要再做第二年？🦋

因为一部作品第一次完成，并不代表它已经是最完整的样子。

这一年，总编导 Mack 重新回看了编排、人物动机、剧情衔接、音乐与舞台呈现。哪些地方可以再讲清楚一点？哪些角色可以更有层次？哪些画面，能够真正把观众带进梁山伯与祝英台的世界？

所以今年的《新梁祝》，不是把去年的版本再演一次，而是在原来的基础上继续修改、推翻、重组，再往前走一步。

而对 Mack 来说，做这部作品还有另一个原因——希望让更多人知道，舞蹈不只是一支一支的舞，也可以成为一部完整的故事，在你眼前发生。

这一次，听导演亲自说说《新梁祝》为什么还要继续。🎬

Why bring The Butterfly Lovers back for a second year? 🦋

Because finishing a production once does not mean the work has reached its final form.

Over the past year, Artistic Director Mack revisited the choreography, character motivations, storytelling, music and stage presentation — refining the details and finding new ways to bring the audience deeper into the world of Shanbo and Yingtai.

This year is not simply a repeat of the previous production. It is a version that has been questioned, reshaped and developed further.

More importantly, Mack hopes this production allows more people to discover what dance theatre can be — not just individual dances, but a complete story unfolding live in front of you.

有时候，最难的不是不爱了。

也可能只是两个人走到了一个必须做选择的阶段。

这也是为什么，《梁祝》的故事过了这么多年，还是会让人有感觉。
因为我们或多或少，都曾经遇过一些想留住，却留不住的人和事。

所以《新梁祝·蝴蝶恋》里的“化蝶”，对我们来说，不只是一个浪漫的结局。

它更像是一种想象——
如果现实不能成全我们，
那至少在故事最后，他们终于可以不再顾虑任何人，选择自己真正想要的方向。🦋

也许你来看的是梁山伯与祝英台，
但最后想起的，会是你自己。

Sometimes, the hardest part is not falling out of love.

It is still loving someone, while knowing that reality no longer allows you to keep walking in the same direction.

Family, distance, timing, expectations — sometimes love is real, but so are the things standing in its way.

Perhaps that is why The Butterfly Lovers still feels familiar after all these years. Because somewhere in the story, we may recognise a person, a choice, or a moment we once had to let go.

In our version, the transformation into butterflies is more than a romantic ending.

It is the possibility that when reality no longer gives them a choice, they finally become free enough to choose for themselves. 🦋

You may come to watch the story of Shanbo and Yingtai.
But perhaps, somewhere along the way, you will see a little of your own story too.

The Eighteen Farewells is not simply about saying goodbye.
It is about not wanting the goodbye to come.

Step by step, the journey continues, even when both the heart and the moment wish it could last a little longer.

In The Butterfly Lovers, that reluctance to part is carried through movement, pauses and distance — emotions that do not always need words to be understood.

Sometimes, what stays with us most is not the farewell itself, but the moments we wished would never end.

Some love stories do not end because the love was not deep enough.
Sometimes, reality is simply not that gentle.

In The Butterfly Lovers, we want to tell more than the love story between Liang Shanbo and Zhu Yingtai.

It is also about choices, compromise, regret, and the things we try so hard to hold on to, but still lose in the end.

This version brings more emotional depth and character relationships onto the stage, allowing the audience to step beyond the familiar story and into the choices each character has to make.
