On July 2019, Dato Tay celebrated his 81st birthday in Bali. We were privileged to accompany him as he took us a trip down memory lane, revisiting places he had once painted around Ubud spanning accross 40 years.
Every Sundays, potential Legong dancers as young as 5 years old will be trained by veteran Legong dancers in the Palace of Ubud. Dato Tay is fascinated by intricate finger movements, complicated footwork, and expressive gestures and facial expressions. Of course, not forgetting how vibrant the Legong dancers' costume showing Dato Tay's mischevious character. Whenever Dato Tay is in Ubud, he would definitely catch the Legong performance at least once and pay his regular visits to the Palace of Ubud on Sunday.
