Some portraits are daring, challenging and direct. Here is a glimpse is the process behind this one. I often put my works upside down to get a different perspective and make sure everything is working well.

Feliz Cinco de Mayo! Today Mexicans commemorate a victory over the French. More than 160 years later, a French painter is extremely grateful to the country that welcomed and embraced him. Viva Mexico!

Art should always be at the service of others: to make them feel, to make them think and to elevate them.

A double portrait in a Caravaggesque aesthetic. The varnish on this one is finally dry and now the painting is ready to travel. Varnishing dark colours is to rediscover the painting all over again.

This self portrait marked a milestone in my career, I was experimenting with the paint approach and the ground in order to find new ways to create. I did it in Florence, Italy using a mirror and it was the first self portrait I did after meeting my now wife. It got exhibited at the Rijksmuseum, as well as in the Museo de Arte de Queretaro and finally at a gallery in Mexico City, where it found its new home. A portrait that has travelled a bit and that represents so much. As artists, our art captures the turning points of our lives, and it is a wonderful thing.

On Easter Sunday Christ resurrected and went to Emmaus where he took bread, blessed it and broke it in order to share it. By doing so he was recognised.
I wish you all a Happy Easter!

Today is a day of reflection, peace and service. A reminder that we are not perfect but we should always aim to improve ourselves. A time to forgive, love and unite.
This is a painting depicting the Deposition of Christ from the Cross. An event that moves me deeply, with every study I aim to capture everything that this represents for me. Happy Easter Eve
