A fun solar powered long weekend on Vancouver Island with friends. The skies were bright, sunny, and blue while we explored a beautiful waterfall, the downtown waterfront, and a miniature farm where all the animals were small breeds of their kind.

Thanks to friends, and Seb for hosting and showing us around.

We're helping Jay's brother at his new property and met this beautiful orange tabby. He lives at one of the other properties in the neighborhood, but likes to visit from time to time. We don't know his official name, but Mel has dubbed him Sampson.

On another adventure 😀 This time to Vancouver Island to visit friends and family we haven't seen in a while. Did you know BC ferries transports about 65,000 people PER DAY!?

Last sunset on this big Baja adventure roadtrip. Driving an extra long day today from the San Francisco Bay area to north of Seattle - an incredible 15 hour day though mountain passes, farmlands, and cities. You know the beach days are over when you have to start wearing closed toe shoes again and fleece lined leggings to stay warm.

Reunited and on the road again! We started the long drive home to Canada yesterday and crossed into the US today. We've driven 21.5 hours so far, covered 1,480 km (920 miles), and stopped for gas three times.

We crossed the border at Mexicali, just like we did on the way down and didn't have any issues. It's been a long day. We're beat, good night.

It's the last day before Jay picks up Mel from yoga teacher training and they start heading back to Canada! Jay watched the sun rise over the Sea of Cortez, then went into La Paz to get the van washed and stocked up for the trip North. It was 39°C (100°F) there so he crossed the peninsula to where it was much cooler (25°C/75°F) and watched the sun set over the Pacific on the same beach that he hurt his arm on over a month ago. And now he's only a short drive from Mel in the morning.

Jay had a beautiful sunrise this morning on a nearly-deserted and very windy beach! The wind is supposed to die down tomorrow so it should get busier.

The water was a bit rough and it wasn't absurdly hot, so Jay didn't actually go for a dip in the ocean today. It was a good thing too because later he went for a walk and noticed little baby man o' wars washed up. These creatures look like blue bubbles and are hard to see in the water. And their tentacles pack a nasty sting! However, when leaning down to take a picture of one, his water bottle must have fallen out of his pocket and rolled into the ocean. And with the noise of the waves, he didn't even notice. Despite backtracking and searching it has been deemed "lost at sea." Thankfully he has a backup but if you notice a black thermos washed up on Muertitos beach, please get in touch 😁

Jay is back at Muertitos and enjoyed a walk this morning before it got too hot. He was very confused why he wasn't generating maximum solar and thought maybe it's just a bit cloudy and hazy. But it also may have had to do with the inch of dirt on the panels 😂

Today Mel and Jay were briefly reunited for an early anniversary lunch at a very scenic spot near Todo Santos. But now Mel is back to her intensive Yoga Teacher training and Jay is back to his friendly beach near La Paz for the week listening to "Mexican polka music". At least that's what we call it. It has accordion, tuba and trumpets and is very popular on the beach 😁
