Happy Birthday, Andrew Chilonga! 🎥❤️

Behind every story is someone who helps bring it to life.

For Dzulo Lathu, that person is Andrew - our Cinematic Vision and Production Lead.

From shaping how we capture the story to thinking through the visual language of the project, Andrew has been an important part of turning the ideas behind Dzulo Lathu into something we can see and experience.

And if you have worked with him, you already know: he brings his skill, his patience, his smile and his collaborative spirit to the process.

We are happy to have you on this journey with us, Andrew.

Happy Birthday! 🎂

Here is to more stories, more beautiful frames and more things to create. 🎥🥂

Every story needs a place to live.

For Dzulo Lathu, that place is Pabwalo Library.

The team recently came together at the National Library of Malawi to spend time in the space where the exhibition will take shape.

Still empty. Still waiting.

But we’re already imagining what it will become.

More soon. 👀

A first look at Dzulo Lathu. 👀

What you are looking at is the first model of the Dzulo Lathu exhibition space, bringing our vision for the project one step closer to reality.

Designed and modelled by Matt The Creator, this is only a glimpse of what we are building.

Welcome to Dzulo Lathu.

The Zomba Arts Platform has reaffirmed its commitment to preserving, promoting and revitalising Malawi's rich cultural heritage through creative storytelling.

The commitment follows the launch of Dzulo Lathu, a cultural heritage project being facilitated by the French Institute of Southern Africa with funding from the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs.

According to Laura Schuerwegen, Chief Executive Officer for the Platform, the project aims to connect Malawi's past with the present by exploring the country's history, songs and memories that continue to shape its cultural identity using soundscapes, instrument displays and artworks.

Speaking to MIJ Online, Schuerwegen said the project will reconnect Malawians with their traditions, history and heritage through creative forms of storytelling.

Schuerwegen added that cultural heritage is not only something to preserve, but also something to experience, share and pass on to future generations.
