UNIMA FINALES TURN THEIR JOURNEY INTO POETRY
Final-year students at the University of Malawi have come together to present a poetry medley titled “Mundimvetsetse Munthune”, crafted to reflect their academic journey from first year to final year.
The piece blends Chichewa, Chitumbuka, and English to express the challenges they faced, the lessons they learned, and the dreams they continue to carry.
The title “Mundimvetsetse Munthune”, meaning “You ought to understand me”, was chosen to speak to the depth of their experience and invite others to connect with their story.
Florence Msukwa, Annie Mushe, Duncain Matupi, Godfrey Fossah, Austin Kafanikhale, Steve Gwiriza, and Weston Phamba performed the medley to honour their shared journey and give voice to the emotions behind their success.
Lead coordinator Weston Phamba told Chanco News that the medley is created to speak for every student who has walked this path.
And one of performers Steve Gwiriza added that it is not just a poem but a heartbeat, meant to express what words alone could not.
The medley will be premiered tomorrow during the Finale Victory Dance.
