heARTS Festival was always intended to serve as a platform to bring visual and performing artists together to create innovative collaborations. One of the most prominent examples of that was the masterclass that took place on 29th July.

Visual and performing artists from the community joined Denim Richards for two masterclass sessions, during which the multi-hyphenate artist shared invaluable insight regarding the “Business of Entertainment”.

The final event of heARTS Fest took place 2 weeks ago: artists from multiple disciplines gathered for a master class with Denim Richards - Hollywood star and CEO and founder of Opulent Entertainment Group in Botswana - on The Business of Entertainment.

Super-Fest Sunday - Part II: Performing Arts

The sun set on Festival Sunday as a slate of amazing performing artists took the stage.

Led into the amphitheater by traditional dancers, our own Mama Kadzamira joined in the celebration!
Flora Suya, 'aning'ani, and 'ande Mr ShopRite mw brought the laughs.

Denim Richards brought the spoken word and opera.

Mussah and ballet brought grace and strength.

Soft Babas brought the energy and pumped up the crowd.

Emmanuel Kamwendo brought the drama.

Adobe Dance Crew brought the synchronized moves.

Paliani brought the voice and the strings known throughout Malawi

And Nasibo Mutize brought the Zimbabwean flair - and the audience to their feet as the evening closed with a spontaneous dance party!

Super-Fest Sunday - Part I: Visual Arts

The Art Gallery: heARTs Fest featured a huge art gallery showcasing visual artists specializing in a variety of mediums, including painting, sculpting, carving, textiles, and fashion design.

Straight-talk Saturday

On Saturday, 26th July, Dzidalire Foundation hosted a special episode of the broadcast series, “Conversations”, at . The panelists, dubbed “Conversationalists”, addressed contemporary issues relevant to the visual and performing arts, including funding, representation, and the emergence of artificial intelligence within the arts. The audience of invited guests from the arts and the broader community within Malawi enjoyed a spirited discussion and special presentation by photographer, Primo, followed by high tea and a curated performance by local Malawian traditional dancers.

Feel-good Friday

Special guests, invited dignitaries, visual and performing artists, and festival sponsors enjoyed a private reception and dinner at the on Friday evening, 25th July. Captivating performances by ballet dancer, Mussah, and special guest, Mutize, mesmerized attendees and united patrons and artists from across the globe.

Throw-back Thursday

As evidence of our commitment to providing a platform for international cross-disciplinary artistic collaboration, heARTS Fest special guests and Dzidalire founder, Mama C.T. Kadzamira, joined Her Excellency Dr. Saungweme and her staff for a delightful dinner at the Zimbabwean Embassy on Thursday, 24th July.
