He didn't love her loudly
he loved her with a quiet fervor,
like a prayer that never stopped.

FOR YOUR HEART, NOT YOUR HEAD

Every word that I gave you
Was meant for your heart, not your head —
For your head is a house full of ghosts
That never left,
While your heart is a garden
Blooming wildly,
As if no one ever died there.

EMPTY BUT STILL SACRED

My heart is an old cathedral
Empty, not yet fallen
The bells are cracked, the roof lets in
The sky, the rain, the swallows

No hymns these days
No candles
Just dust upon the pews
And a quiet that feels like prayer
Long after prayer is through

Stained glass is dim
But holds its color
Red and blue in sleep
Waiting for a morning sun
It still remembers deep

The altar stands
Uncovered
No offering, no flame
But the stone is warm where love once knelt
And whispered someone's name

I do not lock the doors now
I leave them open wide
For wind, for light, for wandering feet
To step back inside

For holy is not fullness
Holy is being bare
And keeping, in the empty,
A space still fit for prayer

SOMETHING ABOUT YOU

There’s something about you—
A strange warmth I can’t explain.
You’ve burned me more than once,
Yet I still feel safe in your flames.
With you, every season turns to summer,
Though the other side of you
Is colder than the North Pole.
Still, somehow,
I find warmth in the cold.

FOR A SLIGHT MOMENT

For a slight moment
I got ahead of myself
Thinking this happiness
Was a vow it’d never leave

I built a home in morning light
Counted stars and called them mine
Spoke forever like it was easy
Like the tide had learned to stay

Though it was like
Carrying water in a sieve
To chase the sun and never leave
To hold the wind inside a fist
And beg the river not to drift

Now I know the old gods’ joke:
Joy is borrowed, never owned
We cup it in our hands and watch
The cracks we never see
Run gold, and then run dry

So I’ll let it go
With open palms and quiet feet
And thank the moment it was here
Before it learned to leave

VICTIM AGAIN

If love is a crime then you're the culprit
Your affection left some marks Like a fingerprint
In my head,in my heart and in my soul

If there was a chance to go back in time
I wouldn't change a thing
I would be your victim again

THE FIRE I DON'T JOIN

Sitting by the fire on a cold June night
I can see you dancing through the burning light

My heart yearning to join you
My mind resists for it knows what is true

This old flame all it does is consume
So I'd rather wallow in this empty room

THAT GIRL

You've always been that girl
A master of simplicity yet full of mystery
You're quiet like a best kept secret
Gentle like a cool passing breeze
A refreshment that is not mine to Keep
