There was a time when marriage was simply expected. You grew up, fell in love, got married, built a home, and carried on with life.
Today, more people are stopping at the altar sometimes long before they ever reach it.
Some have never married, but have watched enough marriages collapse to decide they do not want one. Others have been married, loved deeply, lost painfully, and walked away carrying lessons they never expected to learn. Some remain married, yet quietly wonder whether staying is still the same as leaving.
So, what happened?
Why is marriage slowly becoming a no-go zone for so many people?
Perhaps people have not stopped believing in love. Perhaps they have become afraid of what marriage has become: betrayal, silence, financial pressure, emotional exhaustion, infidelity, unrealistic expectations, family interference, and the fear of losing oneself while trying to build a life with another.
But there is another question worth asking:
Are people running away from marriage or from the kind of marriages they have seen?
This book does not begin with an argument for or against marriage. It begins with experiences.
The stories of those who stayed.
Those who left.
Those who never entered.
And those who still believe.
Because behind every โI don't wanna get marriedโ is a story.
And perhaps, if we listen closely enough, we may discover that the real question is not whether marriage is worth it
but what happened to make so many people afraid of it?
_this is the whole book in my head right now but not sure if I can go ahead and finally write it_ what do you suggest? Should this be written??
