False vs fake prophet

A false prophet is someone who claims to speak for God but gives misleading or untrue messages. The term is often used in a religious or biblical sense.
A fake prophet is a more general or informal term for someone pretending to be a prophet for attention, money, influence, or manipulation.
So basically:
False prophet → emphasizes false teachings/messages.
Fake prophet → emphasizes pretending or deception.
In many conversations, people use the two terms interchangeably.

He wakes up next to a woman who barely respects him, works a job he hates to pay bills that never end, and comes home to nagging, complaints, and zero affection. S*x is a negotiation he has to earn. His opinions are dismissed and the wife never listens to his words.

Most married men aren’t happy. They’re just too scared to admit how miserable they’ve become. Wake up before it’s your turn. Marriage is a cage sold as paradise.

People become fake prophets for a mix of reasons—some calculated, some deeply human.
For some, it's about power. Claiming divine authority can attract followers, influence decisions, and place someone above criticism. When people believe you speak for God, they often stop questioning you.
Money is another obvious motive. Throughout history, many have discovered that religion can be extremely profitable when used as a business rather than a calling. Donations, gifts, and lavish lifestyles can become powerful temptations.
Others are driven by fame and admiration. They crave attention, validation, and the feeling of being important. Being seen as spiritually gifted can feed a person's ego in ways ordinary recognition cannot.
Not every false prophet starts with bad intentions, though. Some may genuinely believe they have special revelations, but self-deception, pride, or lack of sound doctrine can lead them astray. Conviction alone doesn't guarantee truth.
There is also the issue of demand. False prophets often thrive because people want quick solutions, miracles, prosperity, or comforting messages. As The Bible puts it, many will gather teachers who tell them what they want to hear.
A true spiritual leader points people toward truth, accountability, and humility. A false one usually points people toward themselves.
Discernment matters. Charisma can be impressive, but character is far more revealing.
