PRESS RELEASE
FOR IMMEDIATE DISSEMINATION
The Ministry of Higher Education has officially announced the release of the selection list for the Initial Primary Teacher Education (IPTE) 20 cohort. Successful candidates are expected to report to their respective public teacher-training colleges on Sunday, 2 November 2025.
Key Details
The selected candidates will be admitted into the IPTE 20 programme, a two-year teacher-training course hosted at the countryβs public teacher-training colleges.
Reporting date: Sunday, 2 November 2025.
Candidates must present the official selection letter and any required documentation as advised by the Ministry.
Trainees will engage in an accelerated 2-in-2-out-2 structure: two terms in college, two terms of teaching practice in primary schools, and then final two college terms.
Important Notes for Candidates
Attendance on the reporting date is mandatory. Failure to report by the stipulated date may result in the forfeiture of the offered position.
Candidates are advised to bring original copies of their Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE) or equivalent, national identification, and any other documentation specified in the selection letter.
While trainees will receive professional certification upon completion, the Ministry emphasises that successful completion does not guarantee automatic employment by the government.
Any queries regarding reporting procedures should be addressed to the Director of Teacher Education and Development at the Ministryβs headquarters.
The Ministry congratulates all successful applicants and looks forward to the commencement of the programme on 2 November 2025.
