Body percussion is a powerful way to teach rhythm and musical awareness to children, it uses claps, snaps, stomps, and pats to make music without instruments, helping kids internalize rhythm, improve coordination. You don’t need an instrument to make music.

Knowledge is power
Last Saturday’s piano lesson at Lusubilo Music Centre, focusing on triads (major, minor, and diminished)

What is a Triad?
- A triad is a chord made of three notes stacked in thirds:
- Root (the starting note)
- Third (a note a third above the root)
- Fifth (a note a fifth above the root)
- Triads are the building blocks of harmony in music and are used in almost every song.

Examination Week Highlights

This week our students shone brightly through music and performance:
- Mon: Band Ensemble
- Tue: Music Theory, Rhythm & Hearing Exams, plus Cultural & Modern Dance
- Wed: Brass, Percussion, Choir & Strings Ensembles
- Thu: Sound Engineering presentations + performances on piano, guitars, drums, singing, saxophone, trombone & more

Every day was a celebration of talent, discipline, and joy.
Because music isn’t just taught, it’s lived.

And today we officially closed the school for the term. We’ll now take a one-month holiday before returning with even more music and energy

At Lusubilo Music Centre, our weekend program is more than just music, it’s about holistic growth for children. Today’s session highlighted how we blend creativity, learning, and community care.
Our weekend program is designed to give children a safe, joyful space to express their talents in music, dance, singing, and instruments, while also learning life skills. Every Saturday, Lusubilo Music Centre becomes a place where children grow in knowledge, creativity, and happiness.

Children gathered around as Sir Mordan Mordan Kaluwa introduced musical notation, note values, and rests. They learned how quarter notes, eighth notes, and sixteenth notes create different rhythmic patterns. This visual and practical approach helped them connect symbols to sound, making theory come alive.
And through clapping, tapping, and group repetition, the children practiced rhythm sequences together. These activities built coordination, listening skills, and timing. The atmosphere was lively, with students raising hands, asking questions, and fully engaging in the lesson.
