The Democratic Progressive Party, through Secretary General Peter Mukhito, has responded to issues raised by the Speaker of the National Assembly, also a DPP CEC member, by urging respect for institutional boundaries and party discipline. The DPP reaffirmed that Parliament should provide oversight, the Executive under President Arthur Peter Mutharika should be allowed to govern, and the Judiciary must remain independent, warning party officials in government against actions that create competing centers of authority. The statement also listed key national concerns including the Salima water project, civil servants' pensions, electricity, ESCOM/EGENCO, NOCMA, passports, delays in justice, prison conditions, mining, agriculture and to***co, saying these should be addressed through proper channels rather than public confrontation. The Party concluded by calling for unity and focus on development, stressing that “no individual office is greater than the mandate given to us by the people.”
