Police in Dowa have arrested a 22-year-old convict Yohane Afera, who allegedly sodomised a 16-year-old fellow convict at Bzyanzi Reformatory Centre in Dowa District.

Police say Afera is suspected to have committed the offense at night on December 14 this year.

Dowa Police Spokesperson, Gladson M'bumpha says it is reported that during the night, while sleeping, the victim felt wetness in his back which woke him up, when he observed that the suspect was having sexual in*******se with him.

The matter was reported to prison authorities who took both to Dowa District Hospital where it was allegedly confirmed that the victim was sodomised.

"The suspect has been cautioned and charged with so**my. Both are back to prison," M'bumpha says.

Afera, who comes from Phamba Village in Traditional Authority Ndindi in Salima District, will appear before court soon to answer a charge of so**my.
