Then the calm. Midfielder Mphatso Magaleta picks up the ball. No drama, just focus. 12 yards. Run-up. Whistle. He buries it beautiful, composed, top corner. Keeper goes the wrong way.

1-0 Red Lions. Final whistle blows.

From a goal denied, to a penalty earned, to a penalty converted. My camera caught all 3 acts. Football’s cruel, then kind, all in 90 minutes.

Just minutes after that disallowed goal, I kept my lens locked on Shukuran Mussah. Man was angry. You could see it in how he moved.

Same energy, different run. He picks up the ball, cuts inside, charges the box. Chitipa United defender panics... late challenge, goes through Shukuran, not the ball. Down he goes, right in the 18-yard box.

Then the sound: _tweet_ Whistle. Ref doesn’t hesitate. Arm points straight to the spot. PENALTY FOR RED LIONS.

Stadium erupts. From “no goal” heartbreak to “spot kick” hope in 5 minutes flat. Shukuran gets up slow...

From denied to revenge shot. That’s football for you.

Red Lions FC. Winger whips in a perfect cross... Striker rises, connects clean, and _BANG_ - ball smashes the post.

I clicked. The ball drops, chaos in the box. Shukuran Mussah reacts fastest, slams the rebound into the net. I fired another shot. Arms up, Red Lions fans already celebrating. 1-0, surely.

Then the whistle. Ref waves it off. “Play on.” No goal.

My camera roll tells the whole story in 4 frames: hope, explosion, disbelief. Shukuran staring at the ref, hands on head. The net still shaking from a goal that didn’t count.

Lens on him all game. Samuel Khedira Rukura, Ekhaya FC. Every touch looked calm, every pass looked intentional. Against Mighty Wanderers he wasn’t the loudest on the pitch… but he was the smartest.

Final whistle, 1 man stands out. Player of the Match. I got that shot - sweat and grin. Sometimes the game doesn’t need 10 goals. It just needs one player who controls the chaos.

Liberty FC striker gets the ball, one touch, swings.. Ball rockets, kisses the post. Ping.

I caught it mid-air. The ball frozen, the net barely shaking, his face going from hope to disbelief in 0.2 seconds. The whole Liberty bench shot up, then sank. So close. Inches from glory.

Wanderers Reserve counter. One chance, one goal. 1-0. Final whistle blows.

After the game I checked my shots. That post photo hits harder than the celebration pics. Football’s cruel like that - you can do everything right and still lose by a frame of your camera.

The Second Card

Yesterday i was crouched by the touchline, lens fixed on Ndirande Stars vs Ntaja United. Tension was thick. 87th minute... hard tackle, whistle screams.

I snapped fast as the referee Marko Dzimbasekwa marched in, hand to his pocket... red card flashes in the air. The whole stadium gasped. Ntaja United player drops his head. Ndirande fans erupt.
Then The ref pauses. He looks at the linesman. Crowd goes silent. Slowly, he pulls the red back and holds up yellow instead.
