मराठी शब्दांचा सुगंध, कवितेचा आविष्कार आणि संस्कृतीचा अभिमान — अशा सुंदर वातावरणात जागतिक मराठी भाषा दिन साजरा गेला.

International Marathi Language Day was celebrated with great pride and enthusiasm by the Marathi Speaking Union in collaboration with the Mauritius Marathi Mandali Federation, the Mauritius Marathi Cultural Centre Trust and the Mahatma Gandhi Institute. We were honoured by the gracious presence of our Chief Guest, Hon. Balkrishna Babajee.

Our sincere gratitude to the respected poets who enriched the occasion with their inspiring interventions – Guruji Premdeo Ittoo, Guruji Rajen Ramma, Bai Devyanee Naggea, Bai Pavita Babajee and Bai Neeshi Heeroo Luximon.

A special highlight was the honouring of Guruji Ram Maloo for his International Contribution to Marathi literature.

Thank you Atharva - अथर्व for their mesmerising live Marathi medley.

We also applaud our young language ambassadors, Ms Vreeshini Raojee and Mr Dooshan Paddia for their intervention.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who contributed to making this celebration meaningful and memorable. 🙏

कारुण्यसिंधू भवदुःखहारी । तुजवीण शंभो मज कोण तारी ॥

The Marathi Speaking Union proudly collaborated in the 14-day traditional celebration of Maha Shivratree (Paaraayan & Kawree Bombaye), in collaboration with the Shri Marathi Dharmic Sabha, Mauritius Marathi Mandali Federation, and Mauritius Marathi Cultural Centre Trust.

Beyond the spiritual observances, we also seized this meaningful opportunity to honour and encourage the students of the Marathi Beginner Course. Recognising their dedication and commitment to learning our mother tongue during such an auspicious celebration added a special significance to the event.

Wishing you all a blissful and pious Maha Shivratree 2026.

May the blessings of Lord Shiva guide us in our collective efforts to uphold our spiritual values, preserve our rich Marathi heritage, and strengthen the bonds of unity within our community.

The Marathi Speaking Union successfully conducted a meaningful workshop, focusing on the upliftment of Marathi language at academic level, bringing together educators from primary, secondary, and tertiary institutions, including supply teachers.

It was a fruitful space for collective reflection, discussion, and analysis of the current status and future direction of Marathi language in the educational sector. The exchange of ideas and experiences made this initiative impactful.

मराठी भाषेच्या शैक्षणिक उन्नतीसाठी एकत्र येऊन शिक्षकांनी विचारमंथन केले — हाच या कार्यशाळेचा मोठा यशस्वी टप्पा ठरला.

🌺 शुभारंभ २०२६ चा… गणेश जयंती निमित्त! 🌺

The Marathi Speaking Union (MSU) is delighted to begin the year 2026 on an auspicious note through meaningful collaborations in the context of Ganesh Jayanti.

On Thursday, 22nd January 2026, MSU joined hands with the Marathi Oopkari Sabha, Mare d’Albert, during which learners of the Marathi Beginner Course were awarded in the esteemed presence of Hon. Mahendra Gondeea, OSK, Minister of Arts and Culture.

Continuing the celebrations, on Saturday, 24th January 2026, MSU collaborated with MMCCT for the melodious Ganeshrang Balsangeet, held at Palma Marathi Sabha, adding a vibrant cultural dimension to the Ganesh Jayanti festivities.
