Who is Brian Perrine and how I started to play drums.

I come from a family of musicians where music was always part of life. My uncles played music since they were young, and my godfather was a drummer. Unfortunately, he passed away when I was only 4 years old. After his passing, I was given his drum kit… and without realizing it at the time, that drum would completely change my life.

I learned drumming completely by myself.

At that time there was:
❌ no internet
❌ no YouTube
❌ no online lessons

I learned by listening to recorded songs on audio cassettes, replaying them over and over again, watching drummers carefully, and trying to understand groove and rhythm only by ear and feeling.

Drumming came naturally to me.

Back then, I didn’t even know drum tabs or drum notation existed. Everything was built through passion, instinct, repetition, mistakes, and musical feeling.

Later, I discovered drum magazines and realized that drummers could actually read music. That opened a new world for me. I started teaching myself how to read drum notation, understand rhythm, structure grooves, and develop the skills not only to play — but also to teach.

Two years ago, I met someone very important in my musical journey: Johnny Joseph.

For me, Johnny is a master.

He did not simply teach me drumming. He taught me how to think differently about groove, music, emotion, and life itself. Our sessions were more than lessons — they were therapy through music.

Today, through BP Drum School, my goal is not only to teach people how to play drums…

My goal is to help people:
🥁 build confidence
🥁 develop groove
🥁 express emotion
🥁 grow through music

Because drumming is more than technique.

Drumming is therapy.
Drumming is emotion.
Drumming is freedom.
