Malta Book Festival 2024

The Malta Book Festival returns for its 45th edition between 6-10 November 2024. The programme of events of the MBF 2024 includes about 100 events over five days between Wednesday 6 and Sunday 10 November. The events – free of charge and held in designated halls at the Malta Fairs & Conventions Centre (MFCC), Ta’ Qali – range from shows and activities for the family and s

tudents, to book launches and discussions, writing workshops, performative readings, and professional meet-ups between the public and book industry stakeholders. This year’s edition of the festival carries the tagline , reflecting the multifaceted nature of the publishing process, from the inception of an idea to the final product. Through this play on words, the Festival underscores its commitment to showcasing all aspects of the literary world, from writing and illustration to printing and binding. A quick glance at the programme reveals this philosophy in action: boasting over 40 exhibitors and a series of events featuring high-profile local and international guests, the Festival continues to serve its mission as the most prominent book event of the Maltese islands. Horowitz is a prolific British author known for the Alex Rider series, Sherlock Holmes and James Bond stories. His recent Hawthorne and Horowitz books explore meta-fictional murder mysteries. Horowitz has also made his mark in film and TV, working as a screenwriter on series such as Midsomer Murders and Foyle’s War. The NBC will also be hosting another superstar author, who will be announced in the coming days. Visit this page and www.ktieb.org.mt for more announcements in the coming weeks.

Organised by the National Book Council (NBC), this year’s edition of the Malta Book Festival, which took place at the Malta Fairs and Conventions Centre (MFCC), Ta’ Qali between 5-9 November, attracted a record number of visitors amounting to roughly 40,000 people at the event across its five-day run.

This surge in numbers can be partly attributed to the successful implementation of a newly-revamped voucher scheme, a Budgetary measure which has now been confirmed for next year, and which offered a €20 voucher for all primary and secondary school students, to be redeemed against book purchases at the Festival.
