Literally just saw this- what a loss and what a pity- what a delightful and smart man we all lost. Wish I was closer to him

A deeply emotional tribute to the late Ġorġ Mallia has been shared by his wife, offering a glimpse into the love, friendship and happiness they shared together.

In a Facebook post published following his passing, she reflected on their relationship, revealing that the couple had been married for just under three months.

“Three months… how little time we had to enjoy each other as husband and wife,” she wrote.

The tribute paints a picture of a man remembered not only for his professional achievements, but also for his kindness, generosity and unwavering support for those around him.

She described how Mallia always put others before himself, even during his final days, recalling how he continued encouraging her to look after herself and keep moving forward despite his own condition.

“You always put me before yourself,” she wrote.

Known to many as an academic, author, lecturer and cartoonist, Mallia’s wife spoke about the profound impact he had on countless people throughout his life.

“How many lives you touched,” she wrote, recalling the respect and admiration she witnessed from friends, colleagues, students and members of the public.

The tribute also touched on the overwhelming response following his death, with condolences pouring in from across Malta.

“My phone has not stopped ringing,” she said. “The messages and calls of sincere condolences keep coming, even from people who barely knew you.”

Reflecting on their relationship, she said she never loved him for his titles, popularity or professional status.

“I loved you for your humility, your humanity and your enormous heart.”

She ended the post with a moving farewell to her husband, describing their time together as the happiest period of her life.

“You made me happy, you loved me, and you gave me all of yourself without holding anything back.”

“My consolation is knowing that I made you happy and that with me, you felt loved.”

The heartfelt tribute has since resonated with many online, with hundreds sharing messages of support and remembrance for one of Malta’s most recognisable public intellectuals.

Lovin Malta extends it’s condolences to Mallia’s family and friends

One of the advantages of being a young dad is that you get to truly party with your kids. I do this very seldom, but its fun when it happens! Having legends with us such as .evra of course helps!
