Your last chance.
🔴 Għada (il-Ġimgħa) hija l-aħħar ġurnata li fiha tista' toġġezzjona għall-barriera proposta f’Bengħajsa.
🚧 Jekk din il-barriera ta’ 6,200 metru kwadru f’ODZ tiġi approvata, se jkollha impatt diżastruż fuq iż-żona tal-madwar għaliex ser teqred art agrikola u tagħmel ħsara kbira lil żona ta’ importanza ekoloġika, sit tan-Natura 2000 u żona residenzjali, li kollha jinsabu fil-qrib.
👇 Tista’ tikkopja t-test tal-oġġezzjoni tagħna hawn taħt u tibgħat l-oġġezzjoni tiegħek lil [email protected].

---------------
I hereby strongly object to PA/2673/22 for the following reasons:
1. The application in question is completely unacceptable since a large portion of agricultural land will be lost to make way for this quarry. The daily use of this quarry will have a negative effect on all the surrounding agricultural areas and their produce. There are concerns regarding the emission of dust particles, noise pollution and vibrations from the quarry and the negative impact on the surrounding environment including coating of vegetation, contamination of soils, water pollution, change in plant species composition and a key loss of habitat in the area. Approval of this application would therefore go against: SPED Thematic Objective 7.7. and SPED Rural Objective 1.1.
2. The site falls within a zone designated by SPED as an Area of Landscape Protection.
3. The incoming and out-going roads to the quarry are not designed for heavy trucks, they are country roads.
4. A quarry will definitely affect the air and noise quality in the area, including in the surrounding residential part of Bengħajsa. Crushers, excavators, trucks and explosives will be used within the buffer zone of an Area of Ecological Importance, just 300m away from the Bengħajsa fort and very close to a Natura 2000 site.
5. This development would be irreversible in an area that has potential to be improved and used for social recreation. Approval of this application would go against SPED Thematic Objective 6.
For the above reasons, I urge the Planning Authority to categorically refuse this proposed harmful development.
