GOZO part #1 💛💛💛

There’s so much to love about our sister island, and it’s been far too long since I last posted about our beloved Għawdex (Gozo in Maltese). Here are a few snaps from across the island - I could have taken locality by locality, however I wanted to capture the overall flavour of the whole island, rather than any one of its towns / villages. Featured here is: Għajnsielem, Victoria, Nadur, Kerċem, Sannat, Marsalforn and Xagħra 💛✨💛

Is there anywhere in particular I should focus on?

The second in the series of village and town features - is none other than 🧡🧡🧡 this will be part 1, as needless to say I have way too many images of my beloved Ħamrun! I’ve ‘thrown’ in some of my faves - including, Valentine Hall, the festa of the Immaculate Conception, some interior shots of Johnny’s and of Kazin San Gejtanu… and many more! Let me know what you think, and what you’d like to see! I’ve also sneakily added an image from one of my last organised by Bored Peach Club 🧡

There is a joy in rediscovering spaces and places. You actively seek out those corners that would have once held your gaze… only to find that in the time that has elapsed, there is so much more that you want to see, because your eyes have become trained to look in so many different ways, and to seek out those little pockets of sheer magic and perfection.

I hope to present a series of such photographic narratives, each one focused on place - starting with the lovely Ħal-Għaxaq 🧡 here’s hoping that the flavour, the mood and the charm of this village somehow permeates through these photos and gives you a hint of what it feels like to be a local tourist in your own country 🧡

Tucked away in one of the quieter side streets of , is the lovely Casa Asti which pre-dates all of the in the capital, yet possesses all the charm and quirk that I would look for when seeking a special place to stay…

Dragonfly // Mazzarell - this is what we decided to call our home 🩵 and yes that is the door / aperture colour of our build from 1930 🩵 our has almost been finalised, and I can’t wait to share it with all of you! But, in the meantime, I wanted to share my latest design, which I must admit, I’m pretty happy with! We will only have one dragonfly door knocker - I love our designs a little too much, and I couldn’t decide! So it will be an asymmetrical pair 🥰 These were lovingly cast by my husband .chetcuti at 🩵

I’m not sure I could ever, accurately describe, the intense joy I derive when I come across a build that has been lovingly restored or taken care of… where the apertures, stonework, brass have all been given thought and attention. This beauty was captured in Ħal-Qormi, today 💙

A man and his (classic) car 🤍

When you’re out walking and photographing solo, the opportunities simply present themselves. I gravitate towards classic cars like a magpie ‘preys’ on anything shiny. I must have been documenting parked classic or vintage cars for the best part of a decade - as long as I’ve had this account. Marsa is a phenomenal place to explore… so much character, so many details. I was out walking this morning, prepping for next week’s Where the Bored Things Are , organised by and supported by , when I stumbled on this glorious sight 🤍 part of the magic of slow, local travel!
