On the rundown: rip currents run life threatening through late tonight with high surf holding until 4 a.m. Friday, so stay off those west facing reefs. Good Morning Marianas! Breezy one out there today — partly cloudy with isolated showers, highs near 88, and southwest winds running 15 to 20 mph, up to 25 across Saipan and Tinian. The west side needs your attention: high surf holds on west facing reefs until 4 p.m. Thursday, the rip current risk stays high, and a small craft advisory continues for Saipan and Tinian waters with seas of 8 to 10 feet. Boaters, it's a good day to stay in port.

On the desk this morning: back-to-school is almost here as CNMI Public School System opens the school year Monday, Aug. 18, the same day Northern Marianas College holds its fall info sessions at the Joeten-Kiyu Borja Memorial Library and the library shifts to its new temporary hours. And the MVA board meets today.

And we've got a big show for you: joining us live this morning, Galvin Deleon Guerrero! Plus Landon Aydlett from the US National Weather Service Guam brings us the full weather update.

Good Morning Marianas! Here's what we're watching this Tuesday: locally heavy showers are possible today before Wednesday brightens up, and the surf and rip current threat holds through Thursday on west and north facing reefs, so stay out of the water.

Rota boaters are back in business, but the small craft advisory hangs on for Saipan and Tinian through Thursday afternoon.

Also on the desk: the CUC board takes up its 3-year cost recovery plan Thursday morning, the VA benefits counselor visits Rota the same day, and a free Therapy Through Play weekend for Rota kids is set for the Roundhouse August 15 and 16.

And joining us live this morning: performer Jordan Paradise!
