Resonances: Paintings Between Presence and Absence presents a selection of paintings by U Hlaing Bwa (1949–2025), reflecting the sensitivity and restraint that defined his practice.

Bringing together works across different periods, the exhibition offers an opportunity to revisit his approach to light, atmosphere, and the quiet observation of everyday life, while reflecting on his contribution to the development of modern painting in Myanmar.

We invite you to visit this commemorative presentation of his work.

Born in Yangon in 1985, Aung Htoo graduated from the State School of Fine Arts, Yangon in 2006. His works have been exhibited both locally and internationally, including Art Basel Miami and Affordable Art Fair Singapore.

Tactile Movements: Solo Exhibition by Aung Htoo
28 – 31 March 2026

Born in Yangon in 1985, Aung Htoo graduated from the State School of Fine Arts, Yangon in 2006, majoring in oil painting. Raised in a family of artists, he began his artistic journey by assisting his father, an experience that shaped his early understanding of painting and craftsmanship.

Initially known for his detailed floral paintings, Aung Htoo gradually expanded his visual language by introducing elements such as water, reflections, and transparent objects including glassware into his compositions. Through vibrant color palettes and refined textures, his work explores themes of transparency, distortion, and quiet stillness.

Tactile Movements brings together works that investigate the sensory relationship between surface, light, and perception. Through subtle shifts of texture and layered color, the exhibition invites viewers to experience painting as a space where material presence and visual sensation intersect.

Aung Htoo has exhibited both locally and internationally, including Art Basel Miami and the Affordable Art Fair Singapore, and currently lives and works in Yangon.

The Squares: Solo Exhibition by Kyee Myintt Saw

Born in Yangon in 1939, Kyee Myintt Saw is a central figure in the evolution of Burmese modernism. With a background in mathematics, his practice is defined by a sustained engagement with structure, balance, and measured form.

The Squares centers on the square as a recurring visual and conceptual inquiry. Through layered color and disciplined composition, the works explore balance, repetition, and restrained intensity—positioning geometry as a contemplative field where emotion and order quietly converge.

We invite you to explore this focused presentation of a singular artistic voice—one that has shaped, and continues to shape, the language of contemporary painting in Myanmar.

Artist statement from Thynn Lei Nwe: Awfully Faded

I have been fascinated by the idea of how our memories, either goods or bad, bring a great impact on our lives. How the memories we cherish encourage us or how the traumatic events put extra weight in our gro-wth, it plays an important part in each's life.
Whether our childhood memo-ries, bedtime stories, dreams, the places we had to leave behind or a glimpse of our loved and lost ones, I believe some of those memories stay with us as we grow and they become a part of us. But for some, they gradually faded.
With the time passing by fast as we grow older and with the chaos around us, our recollections of joy and sadness are just harder to grab.
I think this series of works is my lingering feelings for the memories I let go unknowingly.
