The Ayenza is more than just an instrument. It is a symbol of unity, community, and identity.

Present in the daily life of the Amazigh people of Morocco, it accompanies celebrations, gatherings, and shared moments, carrying generations of history and tradition.

At Afusart, it holds a very special place. It is one of our favorite pieces, not only because of its cultural significance, but also because of the deep personal connection it has to our own family.

✨ Exclusive Afusart design, created by Muha.
🖐️ Hand screen-printed in our workshop.
🌿 Handcrafted by Abdullah in Fez using goat skin and olive wood.

Memories of a few days at the festival:
Music, culture, dunes, encounters… 🤎

On this occasion, in the middle of the desert, we had the honour of leading a workshop on Amazigh culture and symbolism ✨
It’s impossible to explain just how much we enjoyed it 🫶🏽

Who shall we see at this year’s autumn festivals? 🙌🏼

Amazigh tattooing is one of the main forms of expression of Amazigh symbolism and, at the same time, the source of inspiration behind the designs created by Muha ✨

In this reel, we share a few glimpses into this ancestral practice.
In our workshop, we delve much deeper into this world alongside the true bearers of this knowledge: Amazigh women, the Timazighen.

Would you like to take part in one of our workshops?
✨ BOOKINGS ARE NOW OPEN FOR THE AUTUMN–WINTER SEASON ✨

If you’ve been following us for a while, you’ve probably heard us talk about Amazigh symbolism many times ⵣ
That’s because it is the main source of inspiration behind all of Muha’s artwork and the heart of Afusart.

In this video, we briefly explain what Amazigh symbolism is, some of its traditional functions, and where it has historically been found.

And if you’d like to learn more about these symbols, we’d love to welcome you to one of our Amazigh Culture & Symbolism workshops, where we explore their history, meanings, and cultural context in greater depth. 🤍

✨Pendants available
📩 Order by DM

At AFUSART, each pendant is a unique piece handmade by Mohamed and his family, using the same tools left to them by the Amazigh Jews who inhabited the area.

Although this is traditional Tuareg jewellery - the famous southern crosses, Teneghelt - its production in this region of Morocco, once frequented by trans-Saharan caravans, speaks of a deeper heritage.

The oases of southern Morocco witnessed an exchange that was not only commercial but also cultural.
Today, this intermingling is still alive in pieces such as these, which connect us to the routes, the people and the history of Tamazgha.
✨ Colgantes disponibles

Looking back at some of the moments we shared during last season’s festivals. ✨

Taking part in festivals is one of the many facets of Afusart. It requires an incredible amount of work and dedication behind the scenes, but it is also one of the parts we enjoy the most.

It is a space to share art, culture, and identity. A place where we can present our work and connect with people from all over the world.

This year, for the first time, we held our Amazigh Culture & Symbolism Workshop at one of the festivals, and it was an unforgettable experience.

Among the dunes, people from Italy, Russia, the United States, China, Spain, and many other countries discovered Amazigh history, language, symbolism, and traditions, gaining a deeper understanding of the land they were exploring.

We can’t wait to experience it all again this coming autumn. 🫶🏼🍂
