www.summerdavistravels.com I design tours because exploration of unfamiliar things opens one's mind to the expanse and beauty of this world. I never stop wondering, dreaming of places I've never been, experiences I haven't had yet,
corners I haven't ventured around. It's easy to be co

mplacent, sedentary and stuck in a routine--it takes less energy and thought and, frankly, can be comfortable. Everything unknown to me is exciting and I can't help but pass that energy along to others who may not know what beautiful places and experiences are waiting for them. I hope they open their minds, to allow more love, acceptance and wonder to enter in. I want the glory of these unique places and people to humble self-righteousness, close-mindedness and fear, that each guest may let go of any personal strain or stress and fully absorb the love reflected in each moment--a carefully prepared pot of tea, a smiling welcome from the guest house owner, a glorious sunset. I wish for all my guests is to reflect on their journey--on these experiences and people and consider how they themselves might positively change their lives. Once our eyes are opened, we can open our minds to accept new ideas, imagine what could have never occurred to us before, think in ways we never thought before and develop new concepts of health, wealth, beauty, family, community and ourselves. Learning how other people live, build, communicate, work, eat, love, means we no longer accept just one singular "right" way. Through meeting and interacting with others, we often encounter solutions or situations that make us re-think how we act at home. Last of all, we should have more consideration for and understanding of a different culture, which then inspires us to explore further.

GOODBYE SUMMER!

From Northern Michigan to California, we closed out the summer with one last hurrah—a road trip.

8 states in one week!

Iowa was lovely.

I think it was my first time in Nebraska.

Vail smelled like pines and crisp mountain air.

Utah is stunning.

Interesting stops along the way included the Iowa 80 truck stop and museum, the largest stamp ball in the world, the Sod House museum, the Colorado Trail museum and a lovely historic Victorian house in Glenwood Springs.

Next time we will have to hit up all the hot springs!

🕰️ Lingering moments, unmeasured time
🌅Long days, late sunsets

🍦 Ice cream (not pictured but eaten plenty!)

CHICAGO FUN

Kind of a Boston meets New York vibe with a Midwestern attitude, Chicago was way more fun than I imagined, and a beautiful, vibrant city!

We finally got to experience more than a brief stopover and did everything from watching World Cup matches to getting soaked in fountains, attending a church service and grooving at jazz clubs! 🎷

We could have easily spent a couple more days and very much enjoyed the location and service at the Omni Chicago Hotel

And summertime continues on Lake Michigan….

CHICAGO architecture is really stunning and the history of the city gives it a unique and proud identity.

Although Morocco lists its World Cup quarterfinal today, we had a fabulous time getting to know Chicago better.

Wendella architectural boat tour is worth it!

GALA NIGHTS ON THE QUEEN MARY 2

Dressing up for Gala nights on the Queen Mary 2 can be fun, especially when getting creative!

Our themes were Gold and Red and Roaring 20s.

I had to snag a few accessories on board but my two Moroccan kaftans proved perfect for the occasions!

Dressing up is not necessary for dining in the buffet or other casual restaurants so don’t let it scare you off if you don’t want to do it.

Formal costume of all cultures is welcome and have fun with it!

NYC FINANCIAL DISTRICT

I didn’t think this would be an interesting place to stay, but we were steps away from one of the city’s oldest taverns, where George Washington helped planned the Revolution!

The Staten Island ferry was around the corner (a free view of the harbor and surrounds).

Battery Park with its beautiful views, adventure playground and artistic and historic sites is within walking distance.

Historic and modern architecture meet and transportation is easy with subway stations and ferries nearby.

The clouds were especially beautiful in May!

NIAGARA FALLS

I finally got to see this gorgeous place.

The power and volume of the water are mesmerizing.

Rainbows and mist morph and move throughout the day.

Thank you to Erica Bryant for taking us and Kendall Tuchkova for booking us a room with a view!

NEW YORK CITY VISTAS

How many more could one see in a day?!

From arrival to Brooklyn on the Queen Mary 2 to our Financial District hotel, Wall St. pizzeria, meeting a friend on the Upper West Side, stroll through Central Park, shopping on 5th Avenue and subways, pedicabs, dumplings and Times Square in between—we hit the highlights at high speed!

A fluid and fun visit w/ kids and probably the first trip they’ll remember.

Do you remember your first trip to New York City?
