ENG: On April 11th in 1970 the Apollo 13 craft was launched from Kennedy Space Center. In 2025, on this same date, we are proudly launching the first Solo Show of Maria Horvathova in Latvia - ‘Writing to the land’.

Maria Horvathova is a landscape oil painter based in Northern Ireland. Born in Slovakia in 1996, Maria moved to Northern Ireland with her family in 2010. Completing both her bachelor’s degree in Fine Art Painting (Honours) in 2019, and a Masters degree in Fine Art in 2023 at Belfast School of Art, Ulster University.

Her practice explores reminders of landscape, in a romanticised and cherished approach. Primarily creating oil paintings, that act as an open window into the past and remind the viewer of nostalgic feelings by capturing the intimate moments of the wilderness. Having spent her childhood escaping into nature - as it provided the artist with a feeling of freedom - an experimental approach that facilitates losing oneself in the painting process is practiced. Using oil paint like watercolour, fluid and fast on wooden board surfaces, to re-create chemical reactions - by applying different mediums and thinners with oil paint to form bubble “error” effects, similar to those found on polaroid photographs, created during a chemical image development process. Previously, the artists practice also examined references to deep space perspective and astronomical explorations.

📣 OPEN CALL for Artists! 📣

For the inaugural exhibition taking place at Gallery LVN, we invite artists of any discipline to submit new/previously not exhibited work, in any medium, on the theme of ‘Peace on Earth, and beyond’. 🕊️

The gallery wall measures 196,5cm in height and 82,5cm in width. LVN is a micro gallery - it is located inside a doorway, thus can accommodate work up to 10cm in depth and fitting within the maximum height and width dimensions as provided above. Works on canvas and paper are welcome - framed and unframed. As well as more sculptural objects, glassworks and ceramics, textile pieces, photographs, and even video pieces. 🎨 🖼️ 🖌️

The exhibition will take place from Friday 20th December 2024 to Monday 17th March 2025. With an opening reception held on Saturday, 21st December in the gallery space by appointment only, during our work hours from 10am to 8pm. 🍷

Galerija LVN aicina pirmajai, atklāšanas izstādei pieteikt jaunus/iepriekš neizstādītus darbus, jebkurā medijā, atbilstošus tēmai “Miers uz Zemes, un ne tikai”, jebkuras disciplīnas māksliniekus. 🕊️

Galerijas sienas izmēri ir 196,5cm augstumā un 82,5cm platumā. LVN ir mikrogalerija - tā atrodas uz starpdurvīm, tādējādi tajā var ietilpt darbi kas ir līdz 10cm dziļumā un iekļaujas maksimālajos augstuma un platuma izmēros, kā norādīts iepriekš. Var pieteikt darbus uz audekla un papīra – gleznas, zīmējumus, drukas darbus - gan ierāmētus, gan neierāmētus. Tiek pieņemti arī vairāk skulpturāli objekti, stikla un keramikas izstrādājumi, tekstilizstrādājumi, fotogrāfijas un pat video darbi. 🎨 🖼️ 🖌️

Izstāde notiks no piektdienas, 2024. gada 20. decembra, līdz pirmdienai, 2025. gada 17. martam. Atklāšanas pasākums notiks sestdien, 21. decembrī, galerijas telpās tikai pēc iepriekšēja pieraksta, mūsu darba laikā no 10:00 līdz 20:00. 🍷

On Tuesday the 10th of September 2024 the first steps were taken to establish a new kind of space in Jelgava, Latvia - the likes of which this city has not seen before. An independant Fine Art gallery, operating an open door policy, for artists, curators, and patrons alike. The smallest space of this kind in the entire city, its surrounding area, and beyond. 🖼️ 
Gallery LVN is an noncommercial space, focusing on representation, inclusivity, networking, and support for visual artists. Especially aiming to magnify the culturally important work of local creators. Women or minority gender artists. Artists from underrepresented cultural or ethnic backgrounds. Artists from a range of socioeconomic circumstances. 🕊️

We are open for visitors by appointment only, from Friday to Monday each week - 10am to 8pm. LAUNCHING OUR FIRST EXHIBITION IN DECEMBER 2024! Stay tuned for our OPEN CALL and contact [email protected] for collaboration. 📮

Neatkarīga Tēlotājmākslas galerija, kurā darbojas atvērto durvju politika, gan māksliniekiem, gan kuratoriem un mecenātiem. Mazākā šāda veida telpa visā pilsētā, tās apkārtnē un arī ārpus tās. 🖼️ 
Galerija LVN ir nekomerciāla telpa, kas koncentrējas uz mākslinieku pārstāvēšanu, iekļautību, tīklošanos un atbalstu. Īpaši mērķējot pastiprināt vietējo veidotāju darbu pārstāvniecību kultūras kopienā. Sieviešu vai minoritāšu dzimtes māksliniekus. Māksliniekus no nepietiekami pārstāvētas kultūrālas vai etniskās izcelsmes. Māksliniekus no dažādiem sociālekonomiskiem apstākļiem. 🕊️
