Découvrez l'article que Céline Coubray a dédié à notre exposition photo "Beyond the frame": 👉 lisez ci-contre: https://bit.ly/3Z6gLhs

We are thrilled to invite you to the opening of Marianne Majerus' EMoP exhibition, “Portraits of Plants”, at Parc de Merl on Thursday, June 12th, at noon (12h00)!

Marianne Majerus is today one of the finest contemporary garden photographers. Examples of her photographs are held in the collections of The National Portrait Gallery in London, The Arts Council of Great Britain, the Centre National de l’Audiovisuel (CNA), and BCEE, Luxembourg. She is the sole photographer for over 50 books published in Britain, Europe and America, including among them her bestselling Garden Design: A Book of Ideas, Highgrove (about King Charles III’s private garden), and Luxembourg, Land of Roses. Her work has been honoured by awards including International Garden Photographer of the Year (2010), British Garden Photographer of the Year (2002, 2011) and European Garden Photographer of the Year (2018, 2023).

The exhibition explores some of the unique characteristics of plants. From the tentative buds and exhilarating blossoms to the shapes of leaves and the melancholy forms of seed heads, this selection captures the evolving interest through the seasons, illustrating that plants deserve careful observation and inspection.

For the artist, plants themselves are paramount. She avoids objectifying them and projecting onto them human characteristics or emotions. She sees plants as mysterious essences with which we share a common condition as mortal living beings. Marianne Majerus finds it exhilarating to spend time with plants, intensely observing and recording their beauty and energy. The resulting intimate portraits celebrate the beauty of fleeting moments in the life of plants.
