Ministry of Agriculture first set of 200 Cow arrived from Guinea 🇬🇳

Liberia to stop the importation of frozen meat as Liberia's Ministry of Agriculture is importing 200 Muturu cattle from Guinea and Mali as part of efforts to revive the country's livestock sector and advance President Joseph Nyuma Boakai's "Liberians Feed Yourselves" agenda.

The cattle will be distributed to farmers in Grand Kru County, while some will support a national breeding program at CARI in partnership with the IAEA, including artificial insemination technology. The initiative aims to boost local beef production, create jobs, strengthen food security, and reduce Liberia's reliance on imported food.

Former Nimba District #4 Representative, Cllr. Garrison Doldeh Yealue Jr., has accused the ruling Unity Party (UP) of being responsible for the death of the late Senator Prince Yormie Johnson, alleging that the UP's push for a War Crimes Court killed him.

Yealue's statement has intensified the ongoing political contest over Nimba County's ownership in the post-PYJ era, pitting opposition actors against supporters of the UP-led government.

Senator Johnson, popularly known as PYJ, died on November 28, 2024, at a hospital in Paynesville. His death was officially confirmed by the Liberian Senate as a major national loss.

Over a year later, the political implications of his passing continue to shape Liberia's political discourse, with his legacy now emerging as a potential trump card for the opposition in Nimba.
