โผ๏ธ Crocodile Killed by Residents in Caldwell, Raising Wildlife Protection Concerns
Residents of Peace Community in Caldwell reportedly chased and killed a crocodile discovered roaming in the area on Friday night, October 15, 2026. Community members said the animal had been living nearby for a long time and posed a potential threat, particularly to children.
Conservationist Kanagbeh Boakai Mamanie Kamara condemned the killing, emphasizing that wildlife should be protected rather than treated as an enemy. He urged the Forestry Development Authority (FDA) to increase public awareness and called on the government to enforce wildlife protection laws.
Kamara also noted that protecting wildlife could create opportunities for eco-tourism, employment, and national pride. The incident has renewed calls for communities to learn safe ways of handling encounters with wild animals while protecting both human lives and Liberiaโs wildlife.
