Part 2: Why Spize Parted Ways with Libmuzik

I try to understand why talented artists often find themselves trapped in the struggle of building a name through record labels that recognize their potential but offer contracts the artists do not fully understand.

When Spize was signed, after promising him a house and a car which they failed to deliver, AI Johnson instructed his assistant manager, James Smith, to book a hotel for Spize and a few team members, even though he knew very well they would not be able to afford it.

Spize was not happy with this decision because it was purely a management choice. He suggested renting an apartment for $150 monthly, but the label refused because they wanted to impress the Liberian public.

After more than a year, the hotel bill rose to a huge amount because they were staying in two separate hotel apartments.

AI Johnson could not pay the bill, and hotel management involved the police. Spize and the rest of the team were arrested, but the incident was kept away from the media.

James Smith, AI Johnson assistant, had to leave his American passport as collateral so they could be released.
