2. Family comes first.
3. “Please” and “thank you” are two must words.
4. No hitting, cursing, insulting or foul-mouthed words.
5. Supervised and timed access to screens.
(Children should turn off their device at least 60 minutes before bedtime so it does not interfere with sleep. Equally important to take the phone out of the child's room.)
6. Lower your voice: yelling, shouting or screaming is unacceptable.
7. Listen without interrupting.
8. Pick what you dropped, and shut what you opened - door, window, light, fridge etc.
9. Your room is your responsibility – cleaning, tidying- ventilating.
10. Show respect & gratitude to parents.
11. Express your feelings calmly and politely.
12. Say “Salam” when leaving & entering home.
13. Read two pages of the Quran daily. (Amount varies).
14. No staying up after 8:30 PM. (varies depending on time-zone).
(Note: Age: 3-6 years need 11-13 hours of sleep, 7-12 years need 10-11 hours, and teenagers need 9+ hours.
Keep in mind it takes children an average of 15 minutes to fall asleep, and likely more if they have a lot on their minds.)
15. No one enters the room of another without knocking & asking permission.
16. Everyone is responsible for taking care of the house & contents.
17. Cleanliness of body, cloths, teeth-brushing, nail-cutting etc. is a must.
18. The young respects the elder, and the elder has on mercy the young.
19. Everyone helps himself; no sibling rivalry, bossing or acting like parents.
May Allah bless our families and help us to behave in ways that pleases Him.
