I am deeply saddened to learn that you are no longer with us, Maxi Rozairo. You were once known as the Sri Lankan Michael Bolton, having won many awards for your extraordinary vocal performances and commanding stage presence. You gave so much to the industry from the 1960s onward, never expecting anything in return, driven purely by your passion, your desire to give back, and the legacy you aspired to build.
I had the immense honour and privilege of working with you from my late teens onward, touring on numerous overseas concerts, jazz and soul events where we shared the stage, as well as many charity events and musical concerts, corporate award shows, dinner dances, vocal recordings, and even sharing the jury panel when you joined as a guest judge about a decade ago on YES Superstar Season 2. I am truly grateful for all that you did for me and for the Sri Lankan music industry. I am richer for having known you as both an incredible musician and a remarkable human being. As an entertainer, you were the epitome of a true class act. You will always be a legend to some of us musicians who knew you. 🥺💛
