Red-wattled Lapwing
An English nickname for the Red-wattled Lapwing is “Did-he-do-it”, which is the sound of its characteristic loud alarm call. The Sinhala name is Kirala, the Tamil name A-katti means “human indicator”. Scientific names are Vanellus indicus and Lobivanellus indicus and Hoplopterus indicus, depending on the genus in which it is placed by different taxonomies.
